Why hasn't the MTA looked at ultracapacitors?Its funny you ask this. About 4 years ago a 6300 hybrid was fitted with capacitors as a test. From what maintainence told me it worked great and would save the company money from having to change the batteries every 3-4 years. Then he said to me sarcastically thats probably why we won't switch over to them. These contracts for replacement parts sometimes make more money for the insiders who get them then the original cost of the bus itself! |
