The MTA is playing the game and the city might figure it out soon enough. That looks like the plan, but what I can't figure out is why is MTABus making changes that make service worse, like taking the way our runs at Yonkers are tight and unreliable and spreading to Eastchester where the runs were reliable with enough running time and actually were more productive in terms of ridership per trip for our late and missing trips depending on spares to plug the gaps, poorly. Our list report board is 25 people for a depot w/ only 90 buses. We use our shape(list/report) board as spares and send them out to cover trips that are late, not so much for absenteeism. If its agood day and less trips are covered they sit in a bus at ends of lines and get paid to do nothing, wasteful isn't it. I did shape for a couple of picks and got paid to sleep all day in a bus and sometimes I did a couple of trips in an 8 hour day. The MTA introduced the large shape board, at LLE we only had 5 shape operators to cover trips and absentees. |
