Nice pics!I went to the show today (Wednesday) but as I type this I am still in San Diego. I checked out pretty much every bus there (note that my definition of bus does not include CAGVs/ODVs/most of what PG County The Bus runs :-). I got some pics but I believe you covered pretty much everything that I photographed and then some! Anyway: here are my comments on vehicles: 1. The 42-BRT was tied for my favorite bus with the 60-BRT, mostly because of the specifications of the two transit agencies that operate these buses (LACMTA and WMATA). As for the 42-BRTH I like how it says "Metro Hybrid" on the roof area. Interior-wise I did not notice anything noticeably different from the 60-BRTs or any other LA bus with the exception that the bus neither had the "Route Scout" interior LED sign or the Transit TV. 2. The 416/40-SFW has nice seats but I don't like the seating over the rear wheel wells. The Valley Metro 45C-LFWs have this as well and it just seems a bit cramped. A question on the 416-is this the only NJ Transit bus with Clever Devices so far and does the automatic stop announcement system work? 3. The 45C-LFW (Metro 45C) was a complete surprise to me. I did not expect that they would have one ready so fast (I thought they would not have them ready until next year). I also expected that since the bus had been out of production they would redesign it but I guess I was wrong. The only things that appear different are the LED lights, the interior LED signs, and the ad racks in the front section of the bus. Also it seems that the 45C has the "old" seat design while the 42-BRT has the "new" seat design. 4. According to http://www.cleanvehicle.org/committee/gas-transit/tugtidbits0308.pdf, the WMATA 60-BRTs were supposed to be "piggyback" orders off the LACMTA order. While Valley Metro's and San Diego's 60-BRTs are both spec'd very similarly to the LACMTA buses (right down to the signage), it appears that the WMATA buses do not have any similar features to the LACMTA buses other than the "local" designation. Nevertheless the WMATA NABIs are very attractive and it is great they are getting 60-BRTs. 5. The new NABI 40-LFW is very "blue" inside (but is very nice). 6. By the way back in 2004 a Blue Bird Ultra LF came to Arizona for a transit conference (the Arizona Transit Association) but no one has ordered this bus as far as I know. |
