This situation shows why I believe the FTA at least has the right idea. If the only way that a private company could do this shuttle was to more than triple the fare, then it suggests that WMATA was subsidizing the operation of these buses. Shuttles to football games are not an essential service and public funding should not be used for this. If it's that important to provide a $6 bus from landover, let the Redskins make up the difference. |
