This is distinctly different from WMATA's approach because WMATA can add cars and expand to 8 car trains . . .There is a problem with that conclusion. WMATA doesn't have the cars to run more 8 car trains. Ad to that the next car procurement (500 over 10 years starting in 2012) is in limbo because the Virginia legislature special session that concluded last week ended in a stalemate on what transportation project in the commonwealth would get funding.
