Was the 386,026 number b4 or during when the R142's had to get their breaks fixed? And is the lower number due to this?

The R32 has never ever failed me EVER and the MTA lies to us like this so then they can get an excuse to get rid of the R32's faster.

What a shame.

Seriously, these are 99.9%-ly the facts, and truth be told, I like the 32's as well, but they cannot stay around forever (fixed up or not) in their current condition, so, if you live long, you (and I) will live to see the 32's scrapped, thats just how it is, just gotta deal with it...

Look what Livonia Yard did to the 62's under the care of concourse and jerome yards those cars were surpreme, now... those 62s need to come back home. Bring the 62s back home to the 4 where they belong.

Sadly I agree with that statement, the R32 use to do close to 60000 miles 10 years ago, now they're doing closer to 10000 miles that an overall increase of 40000 miles as they got older. Thats incredible overall! Those babies are ending on a strong note, but Ive heard the R44 will go first so to the 32s will enjoy their home on the B and C lines to finish their lives,

The slant ends on the R40s are not only a failure, but in some cases are a safety hazard. Those "some cases" being when you have to pass between cars and feel like you're walking a tightrope over the Grand Canyon (not fun even if the train is not in motion), and the fact that kids have been known to "surf" on those slant ends...and die trying.

Oh and I did neglect to mention that the space used for the slant noses limits interior space as compared to other 60' cars?

Hmmm, then I don't understand how they loose there balance, I mean, if it's on a straight track, what makes them loose there balance? I mean, that's why they have grab handle, but oh well, it's sad that it happens, but why cross cars then?

Watch it walking between cars...50 is on a big time blitz with that as well...

Thanks for the tip. Normally I try to get to where I want to on the platform so I could avoid playing "hang onto the grabirons!" or "Tarzan" depending on the situation. Although I must admit there are times when I'm myself guilty of this (particularly when I'm on the 5th car trying to get up front).

A T/O on the 1 Line had some genius walk between the cars 2 weeks ago and the person fell and became part of the truck...He got real shook up when he seen the body at that...

Yuck! I feel for that T/O.

Beacuse people do it like its nothing in some cases..

Or beacuse they want to "avoid" some of "NY Funkiest" or "Craziest" in a car...

Or some "mean looking kids" in a car...

Agreed.

Now, what if they added more chain's to the chain guards, will it helo a little? Or will there be no difference?

Ah for the good old days of AMUE trains with real chains. You could drop anchor if you needed to. :)

Beacuse when you know you "it wasnt you" and you go Chow, you PRAY that a signal tripped you and you dont find a body under a car..

I had that exact feeling about 4 Years ago while operating the 0440 outta WDL going to ZooLots i went BIE going into 14th Street...

I had a tech and it told me where i went BIE so i knew it wasnt on me..

I dreaded going to that car though but it was just some stuff a contractor left out too close to the rail that tripped me..

The train's vibrations passing thru the area made it fall over and trip me..
