Re: More count-down clock lunacy

If this was in the AM it’s probably what has been SOP on the Flushing Line for years. Regardless of where the trains are actually scheduled to terminate they carry Main Street signs and the ATD at 111 St makes on the spot decisions as to which trains go through and which trains lay up. If a train that is scheduled to go through develops trouble, then it gets laid up on arrival at 111 St. Then the following train which may be a scheduled layup will be sent through to Main St to cover the service. The Flushing Line has run like that for years and with the headways being as close as they are, the train being sent through will usually arrive Main St within the 5 min allowance for lateness so it will be carried as “on time."

Go on the subwaytime site and pick any station. The clock with time and seconds refreshes every five seconds.

The clock with time and seconds refreshes every five seconds.

How often data is input and how often data is displayed are two different things. Sometimes there's a one to one correspondence; sometimes not.

Updating a clock every 5 seconds is pretty easy. It does not necessarily follow that the rest of the screen is updated that frequently.
