He loves to rub on me. I retired with only 13 collective years in and so my check isn't the full amount those with all the years get. What he doesn't know is that I have other stuff from the private sector that'll be mine when I *so* retire. But I've already done the sitting on my ass thing and it truly sucked. I'd rather keep working until I drop lest I turn into him. :)

I'm sure that you are and I'm happy for you. I'm sure that you also earned every penny. I am also doing quite well after 30 years. I was merely pointing out the some here make claims that are not borne out by the facts.

To the best of my knowledge, there are no hand throws in 207th St UNLESS a hand throw was installed to facilitate the deliveries of the R-160s. I do not know this to be so and I suspect that this was a switch run-thru and an illegal move backwards over the same tower controlled switch.

There are four hand-thrown switches in 207th Street Yard. One is behind the wash off Track 56, in Tower B territory.

I remember the old days when we washed on track 1 only. Sometimes we wrong railed from the portals with the water off, then changed ends where they store the scrappers now so we didn't track water through the building, sometimes B lined us up around the loop from 56 to 1. Everything was controlled by B so that hand switch is new.

A track that disappears into the grass.

Now this must be as mysterious as 76th Street.
I mean they to not place tracks for no reason at all.
Are you SURE it disappears? Maybe it only appears to disappear.

LION will send forth his investigators to investigate.

LION Inspects Jamaica Yard

Posted by Broadway Lion on Fri Aug 30 11:25:44 2013, in response to Re: Derailment in 207 St Yard, posted by Broadway Lion on Fri Aug 30 10:50:17 2013.

Lion pulls up Google Globe.

Him sees four tracks crossing the GCP and entering the yard. The western most track apparently does not serve the yard directly but goes out to the western edge of the yard.

Him sees one, possibly two hand thrown switches. The eastern most of these three tracks seems to return to the loop around the yard, but it does not, that switch has been removed and is replaced by a bumper block.

The western two tracks no longer have any third rails on them, maybe they never did, but this LION suspects that these are what remains of the 1939 Worlds Fair tracks.

LION inspected the images closely, they do go out into the grass, but they seem to have bumpers at the north end of the yard. Only a diesel can go in there, or so it seems.

But things are never as the seem to be. Look Closely. Those bumpers are fake. The line really enters the meadow beyond the yard and then cuts under the Van Wyck Express way This is where the Air Force gets its rockets into the silos under the old Worlds Fair grounds. But this was a long time ago, and those tracks are covered over with earth and undergrowth. The Air Force does not even keep a guard shack there anymore.

In the south, that line goes UNDER the Queens Blvd Line, and is concealed under the Jackie Robinson Parkway. You can still see traces of it where it cuts under Jamaica Avenue in East New York, and connects directly to the Line that runs to 76th Street.

Admittedly it is a round about way of doing things, but the Air Force thought it better that people will not know of what they have done, but that is why the Woodhaven Reservoir was drained: because they wanted to use the conduits for something else. But yes, it is quite true, under the Reservoir is the first attempt at building a space laser capable of both shooting down satellites and if necessary electronically block access to both JFK and LaGuardia airports. It is too bad that all of this stuff was obsolete and non-functional by the time 9/11 happened. But there you have it, Presidents Slept, content in the abilities of the watch forces, even though those watch forces have long since fallen asleep.

Obama is correcting this! He launches drones day and night, covering every parsec of the globe looking for violators to vaporize with his new unclear capabilities.

Yes there is. It was put in for work train storage but storms and marshy soil compromise the track.
