On a few occasions when I travel to and from 2nd Ave I've been annoyed that the M doesn't go there the way the V used to. Sometimes I've gotten out at Bway-Lafayette from a B, D, or M and walked to 2 Av rather than wait for an F.

But I can't say it's terrible to only have the F at Second Ave. Far more people are benefiting from the M to Queens than from the V to 2 Av.

How wrong 33rd Street proved to be:

As I remember, he wanted to be able to get on an empty (V) train at 2ns Avenue which was taken out by having the (M) take over the (V)'s old route. Probably one of a very small minority adversely affected by the change.

It was already underway, but sped up considerably with the (M) running to 71-Continental 19/5 (should really be 19/7 if not 24/7 but that is besides the point).

Or the (M) as it work out:

This is still likely needed, and a combined station could be done as a 600' station that would be part of a much longer term plan to eventually have ALL platforms along the J/M/Z be 600 feet.

We have been over the reasons many times.

Weekend GO work reduces capacity. 6th Ave and Queens corridor can't handle M and R service.

Crews. More personnel would be needed which costs money. Money.

Money is a relative concern. If the weekend F was crush-loaded on 6th Ave, the an M extension to at least 96/2 (if not CPW or Queens Plaza) would follow without much drama. The money would "appear."

The R in Queens on weekends is crowded.

Has been for decades.

More trains are needed. But there is too much weekend construction to run more trains. And it costs more to pay more trains operators.

All reasons for "weekend construction" is east of Kew Gardens, as CBTC is being overlaid on the two branch lines.

The M never goes beyond 71st Avenue in regular service.
Crew's are written into operations budgets just like food cost are for restaurants.

The problem here is what is the MTA willing to adjust to improve services like they promised several years ago.

What we did receive was a service pattern that worked Very well for riders, that was taken away.

The M line uptown to 96th st was a hit with late night, and weekend crowds.
These days, there are just as many riders using the system as weekday riders, but with only 3 quarter service provided.

Of course, as we've known, weekend and nights are the primary construction period.
It's fine.
6th Avenue and 8th Avenue are undergoing CBTC installation.
Perhaps after this is done, service expansion can be put back on the table.
