The first picture is soooo dark - - too dark. The second picture has a sign which obstructs the ALP-44 on the right, the sign makes the picture stand out instead of the trains. =====> FAIL! |

Yeah maybe I could have used EV or something. But I had to use a faster shutter speed in order for the photo to not be blurry. Remember, it was very dark out and I was shooting handheld. |

In that first pic you could bump up the fill light or shadows a touch in post and get the shade off those loco noses. A pretty good cheat is decreasing your EV a third or even 2/3 and then bumping up the brightness in process. You can use a faster shutter speed and the brightening is subtle enough to get away with it. That faster shutter is usually something like 1/60 instead of 1/40 which can make the difference for hand held shots.I like the second shot, 3 trains. Looks like a lot of obstructions there to work with. your pal, fred |

Further complicating the issue is that the Meadowlands station is controlled by NJSEA and may even also be owned by them. So their "not likely to be posted" (if you know what I mean) rules most likely apply at any area at or near the station that they control, including the locations I was shooting from. Now if you were to shoot from outside of that immediate area, where I took photos from earlier in the day (I'll post those later) then, even though it may still be NJSEA property, I think it is controlled by the stadium people and NJSEA might leave you alone. |

Thanks for posting,. As a Harlem line rider, this sevice does me no good. I don't see the point in driving 35-40 miles from The town of Southeast to Port Chester, park and take the NJT/MNRR to Sec. Jct and changing trains to go 10 mins. I'm much better off parking at SE station which is 4 miles from home and taking the train to GCT , walking across 42st to the port and taking the Bus which takes you right to the stadium for 10 bucks RT. |

If you're going to be an asshat, at least be able to determine the difference between an electric ALP44, a diesel F40PH, and the way in which the photos being taken at an unelectrified station would play a role in determining that difference. |
