If you can somehow prove that your posts don't hang up my connection and other people's don't, be my guest, I anxiously await seeing you trying to prove this, but I can't imagine how you will do it. That said, I'm not the only person to complain to you about this issue, so you can stop pretending like I'm singling you out. For some reason, I don't have this problem with anyone else's posts on a consistent basis, only yours, and this has happened on different computers using different connections from several locations in the US and also on three or four different continents.

Neither Brian nor anyone else on this board tells me what to do, say, or think. Unlike certain people on this board, I am able to think for myself, write what I want, ignore who I want, and so on, without taking instruction from someone else or facing consequences from those people. If you took off the blinders and clued in to reality, you would see that Brian and I have had quite a few public disagreements over a variety of different issues, including most recently when Nilet suggested that photography on PATH does not break any laws. Look up the thread yourself, you'll see it right there. Clearly, if Brian and I were as buddy-buddy as you claim, that would never happen, and we would always be in lockstep agreement with each other. But that simply isn't the case.

To be honest, I'm not sure. I'm not an expert on Israeli law, but as far as I know, there is no legalization of gender separated public services. That said, there are routes where it happens unofficially because everyone riding wants it to be that way, and generally people who don't hold these beliefs don't travel where these routes go. For example, the bus from the Western Wall to Mea Shearim is one of the routes that, from what I've heard, is unofficially gender separated. I rarely to go Mea Shearim, and never go from the Western Wall, so I've never taken the bus in question. If I were to violate the "rules", there is no legal basis on which I could get in trouble from what I understand, but there have been incidents of men abusing women who don't move to the back of the bus and the driver condoning the incident. I have less of an issue if it happens unofficially as opposed to the policy being endorsed by the government. Living in a Jewish state does not mean living in a state where the (Orthodox) rabbinate sets all the laws, religious or otherwise.

I'm also not sure what the implications would be in the case of the light rail since it will be operated and managed by this private consortium, called CityPass, and the CityPass CEO is the one who said this idea was under consideration. I suppose CityPass manages this project at the pleasure of the municipality and the Israeli government, and the current Jerusalem mayor is "secular" by Jerusalem standards (he isn't overly religious, I've seen him in public and I'm pretty sure he did not have his head covered).

The religious right is trying to make other grabs as well, including the passage of a law that will effectively render any conversion performed by anyone other than a "certified" (meaning Orthodox to their pleasing/standard) rabbi null and void, and such people and their descendants would be unable to emigrate to Israel under the Law of Return. In other words, people born to converted, Jewish mothers who have lived as Jews their entire lives would no longer be considered Jewish in the eyes of the Israeli rabbinate and by extension, the Israeli government. The ultra-orthodox have also effectively turned the plaza at the Western Wall, which is a "national historical site", into an open air, ultra-orthodox synagogue where men and women must be separated, pathways exist on the plaza so men do not come in contact with women, and even throw items at women who pray too loudly or read from the Torah scroll in the women's section. Get the idea?

They are for the most part a bunch of intolerant, sanctimonious, vindictive, clannish schemers who can't stand to hear or see others living outside their narrow world view without their getting their share.

And they're all miserable guilt trippers or guilt trippees. The world would be better off without that.

I must've struck some nerves because here come the circled wagons.

You, of all people, should not accuse others of anti-Semitism. People see your web persona on here, then see your yarmulka in real life, put one and one together, and then calcify and buttress their own anti-Semitic tendencies. In other words, people like you make others WANT to be anti-Semites. And if you are all they go by, who can blame them?

Judaism is not sacrosanct. It is NOT a perfect moral code. It is NOT a "chosen" faith. In fact, it is Jewish sekhel that has perfected submission and obedience and subservience to a contrived deity into a neurotic art form. No other faith has so many arcane, convoluted, irrational, excessive, crippling restrictions on how to live life, subjugate women (there is even a daily prayer men recite, "borukh ato adonoi elohenu melekh ha'olam, shelo asani isha" which when translated is, "Blessed art thou, oh Lord our God, king of the universe, for not making me a woman."), and otherwise be dictated to by others who ostensibly have a hotline to Yahweh The Aloof and Jealous on your behalf.

No wonder so many Jews have therapists on retainer. They're made to feel guilty about everything. Every move they make is regulated by some putz in a gartel telling them they're not doing it the right way. After awhile, I'd lose my confidence in my own decision-making ability as well.

If you can't counter my claims, then get out of the way. Don't be a pussy and play the anti-Semite card. That's for pipsqueaks like Abe Foxman and Robert Abrams.

Shmarya Rosenberg was once a rabbinical student who witnessed Orthodox Jewish hypocrisy first hand and often, and has a whole site (linked) with hundreds of instances where Jews are no more perfect (and often far more morally corrupt and bankrupt) than the average non-practicing person. And before you disclaim this by saying "Jews were never meant to be perfect," then why the hell do you put yourself through such paces distancing yourself from the rest of society if your society is no better than anybody elses when it comes to things such as theft, pedophilia, fraud, and other general dishonesty . . . and maybe even worse?

Maybe you don't want to admit you're living a lie because you've sunk so much emotional and other capital into the lifestyle that would then become a dead loss to you. That's understandable. Sad, but understandable.

It doesn't make them happy because they're PROGRAMMED to think it won't make them happy. What frum Jew is allowed to think for him or herself how to derive happiness?

They're busy using this life to prepare themselves for death. Miserable rascals. They think that by postponing earthly gratification til death in this, their only life, they will be guaranteed eternal happiness in an afterlife doing . . . you guessed it . . . more of the same!

There is NOTHING sinful about turing on a light bulb Friday night to Saturday night. NOTHING sinful about eating bacon. NOTHING sinful about wearing a bikini. NOTHING sinful enjoying a shot of real milk in a cup of coffee while eating a hamburger, or a cheeseburger for that matter. NOTHING sinful about ENJOYING your holidays instead of using them as opportunities for self-flagellation, reminders of past misery, and repression.

And they're hypocritical about it, too. While they're pontificating restraint and "modesty" to the rest of the world, they're frequenting porno shops and hookers, touching girls on airplanes, touching boys otherwise, and then hiding behind their tallises when they're caught.

And we're supposed to ADMIRE this?

See my post before but this is even more anti-semitism.

"Judaism is not sacrosanct. It is NOT a perfect moral code. It is NOT a "chosen" faith."

It is a faith and religion one is born into.

"In fact, it is Jewish sekhel that has perfected submission and obedience and subservience to a contrived deity into a neurotic art form."

Now there is a stereotype if I ever saw one.

"No other faith has so many arcane, convoluted, irrational, excessive, crippling restrictions on how to live life, subjugate women (there is even a daily prayer men recite, "borukh ato adonoi elohenu melekh ha'olam, shelo asani isha" which when translated is, "Blessed art thou, oh Lord our God, king of the universe, for not making me a woman."),"

Really? IDK Judiasm is not the only faith that treats women differently. In fact, it is common in that area of the world (not saying it is right though) so get off your ignorant high horse. Note: I personally do not agree at all with the treatment of women in that part of the world, nor do I think it is right.

"Shmarya Rosenberg was once a rabbinical student who witnessed Orthodox Jewish hypocrisy first hand and often, and has a whole site (linked) with hundreds of instances where Jews are no more perfect (and often far more morally corrupt and bankrupt) than the average non-practicing person. You lost me on that one because after the first sentence I just kept hearing stupidity.

You are anti-semetic something I normally do not say on here or elsewhere for that matter but your posts have got me to the point where I have to say something. Well, from my understanding (not that I have done research on the religion), but the women are treated differently by some sects/divisions (I apologize I am not sure of the word to use) such as the gender-segregation in the transportation system.

It has been aa while since I worked downtown but IIRC the Monsey Trails buses did have the men in front and women in back. But, it isn't just the Jewish religion that does this practice like he implied falsely.

He has issues and I hope he can get the psychiatric help he needs. I also, hope though that the webmaster bans him as his kind of hatred has no place here to be honest.

No, women are not treated differently. Men and women are treated the same, i.e. both have to stay away from the other. Men and women sit in different parts of the bus because they want to, because they don't believe in intermixing. It has nothing to do with men being better than women or anything.

I meant the word 'Actually' no came out instead. But, yes he has issues there was no excuse whatsoever for his to be spouting that crap here.

He has his right to have his opinions, no matter how misguided they are, but he needs to keep that to himself instead of throwing it down all our throats. That is why he should be banned.

I get it somewhat now, and I see your points, but I think I am misunderstanding something and as I said before I did no research just observations and understandings from what I've heard and seen, so I am going to ask you if you do not mind a question, not to question what you are saying but rather to learn as I think there is something I am not understanding.

1. "Men and women sit in different parts of the bus because they want to, because they don't believe in intermixing" - Ok, I think I get it but what happens say if a woman and man decide to sit together, are they going to get into any trouble?

I understand this is done out of tradition (get this now) and religious belief which is the 'they want to' part and realize this is probably a non-issue as a man and woman didn't want to they wouldn't get on the bus. I realize in Jerusalem thay will have non-gender-segregated cars I am wondering more about the Monsey Trails type systems here.

"It has nothing to do with men being better than women or anything."

This I see now I was very mistaken on and I apologize as I did not mean it the way it came out. I just meant it is the difference but I was wrong on that.

As I understand it, at the moment, no. There are proposals to pass legislation in the Israeli parliament that would legalize such separations. That said, even though the separation isn't legalized at the moment, there isn't any guarantee anyone else on the bus, including the driver, will come to your aid if you defy the custom of that line. You can read an example of this here.

Thanks for the info, I appreciate it :)

Paul has made some pretty horrendous and absurd accusations against Brian. I agree that Brian has made some pretty horrendous and absurd statements towards others, but in the Brian-Paul feud, Paul is the worse offender (not that brian is totally blameless)
