When was the last time you offered constructive crticisim or advice on how to improve photography (and by the way, if you are good at anything, it is taking 3/4 roster shots, because from the rare samples I've seen, that is all you do, I guess practice does make perfect)? I consider Brian to be a friend and while I don't condone all of his actions online, you (and others) simply need to lay off him. Insulting his (or anyone else's) family and religion is simply out of bounds. Brian can be blunt in how he offers criticism or suggests to people that their facts might not be correct, but he wants things to be accurate and correct, and every time I've seen someone prove to him that he is wrong about something (and especially when they do so courteously), he admits his error and moves on. He and I treat each other with respect, are able to agree to disagree about issues in a civil manner, and help each other out in our pursuit of this wonderful hobby. He has also extended the same favors to other people I know, and they appreciate his offers. These same people also manage to have civil debates with Brian on this board. I don't know how we do it, but perhaps it might have to do with not being disrespectful and insulting perpetually. You should try it sometime. |

It is probably a hot topic among liberal Jews here in Israel, and also around the world. If successful, the implementation of such a policy would represent yet another successful attempt of the ultra-orthodox community, which makes up a small part of the overall Israeli population and a larger and larger portion of the population in Jerusalem each year (I can't find specific numbers though, other than the fact the number of children enrolled in ultra-orthodox schools has grown significantly in recent years for several reasons). It doesn't help that as a result of Israel's parliamentary system of government, the ultra-orthodox political parties right now hold a very disproportionate share of political power considering how many seats they have in the parliament. There was a large protest last year in front of the Prime Minister's residence when there was a chance of gender separated seating being legalized on board transit buses in and to/from Jerusalem, so this is an issue that means something to many people. |

And again this is another one where you prove yourself a hypocrite, as I have seen you go to posts from another poster who posts photos both higher in quantity of photos and also of massive oversize, which actually do take long to load, and have caused computer crashes, and always comment how nice his stuff is. I can care less if you look at mine, as others do like my work. But please, be fair all across the board, and not make yourself a plain hypocrite more than Brian is at times!! I should probably thrown in a disclaimer that I am one of these "liberal" Jews. I studied at what is arguably the most liberal yeshiva in all of Jerusalem, if not Israel, for most of the past year (accepts men and women, the services are fully egalitarian with one exception, men and women are on faculty, etc) and attend the only "traditional egalitarian" services on Saturdays when I'm in Jerusalem (though there are some other Conservative and Reform services in the city). |
