He needs help, but evidently they rather keep him in jail then release him, which saves them taxpayer $$.Honestly, the man needs help and wish the gov't would get him that help otherwise this cycle will keep happening. |

All those people, including Darius are on the street now.Would you PLEASE pull that cork out of your ass? The only thing that happened in the Carey and Cuomo years was the qualifiers for who got in. Paturkey shut them DOWN. Even the criminally insane got turned loose based on the promise that they'd take their meds but unfortunately nobody made sure they did and then the funding for the meds was abolished too. But they reported that 'police sources' say he had a copy of the Koran, a prayer rug, and a counter-terrorism manual. They also expect if convicted he will spend up to 15 years behind bars |

Put him at Ward's Island, right near the Triboro Bridge, and of course, the Hell Gate Bridge, where he can watch all the Amtrak, NJT/MNR Meadowlands trains, and all the CSX trains he can get his good fill of, and not even be close to being able to touch them, and let him languish there for a long long time!! Hell, he will even get to see the interstate buses that cross the Triboro as well, since it seems he wants to move onto buses now!! :-D |

I believe Darius could be cured of his condition by behavioral therapy. Put him in front of a computer for a couple of hours a day and have him read the posts here at Subchat and Buschat. He will get to know the people here and he'll be consumed trying to figure out why they act the way they do. It'll take his mind off his own obsession. On the other hand, he might quickly understand what's going on here, become bored and go back to more enjoyable pursuits. |

Posted by Broadway Lion on Wed Sep 1 11:13:30 2010, in response to Re: Update: Re: Darius McCollum Again, posted by Olog-hai on Wed Sep 1 10:18:41 2010. Their regulations are there for a reason, Darius McCollum not the least of them. But you cannot do anything to Darius until he does something on the railroad (or elsewither ie a bus). There is no FRA or NYCT rule that says: In the event of Darius McCollum being out of jail take extra precautions with equipment. It is like EMS: EVERY patient has AIDS and treat them as such. But since nobody in a town like ours has AIDS (wanna bet on that!) the precautions become lax. If your patient said "I have AIDS" or "Hep C" you would damn well sure use precautions. WE ASSUME that every patient with a piercing or with a tatoo does have Hepatitis. Even as those are becoming VERY VERY common it is also well known that most Tat and Pierce joints are UNCLEAN.

Consider though, that while taking precautions with all equipment is meet and proper, we ALSO don't want the mindset developing (any more than it already is) that EVERY railfan is like Darius...As for tats, piercings and Hep C, since the city's budget problems grew worse, there are fewer inspections of tat/piercing shops happening. I've looked inside some of the tat shops in the Village, and they run the gamut from spotless to hideous! Generally speaking, though, your comments on EMS procedure are spot-on. Every patient has a communicable disease until proven otherwise, and you can never get too lax. That's when Mr. Murphy bites HARD... |
