"B) Your mindset is what's making railfanning an increasingly difficult proposition for all of us"How does taking pictures of someone's children without their knowledge and permission have anything to do with railfanning?? How does that make a "difficult proposition" of railfanning for the rest of us??? There is a big difference between taking pictures of trains (what railfanning entails in part) and being a grown man going out taking photos of underage girls (what railfanning does NOT entail). The actions that make railfanning a "difficult proposition" have nothing to do with the topic at hand here (the actions I refer to are things like trespassing to get shots of trains, equipment, etc.)!! The issue is a grown man taking pictures of underage children unsuspectingly!! And who knows what this guy does with these pictures!! (I do not think I wanna even imagine, much less know!!) |

***Thank YOU*** for supporting my PEOPLE photography (Was: 34 PhOtOs -- PEOPLE...) |

Re: 34 PhOtOs -- PEOPLE of the SUBWAY -*- 6/6/10I would sincerely like to thank all of you for supporting my subway people photography. As I expected, the response has been overwhelmingly POSITIVE, which is why I posted them here (I post them because I think people will enjoy them). As I knew beforehand, everyone here with at least half a brain knows that "street-style photography" is 100% legal, 100% ethical, and most importantly, 100% accepted as a photographic art-form. Anyone who would claim otherwise, and a few of the "usual" suspects did, is clearly either a complete moron or just up to their usual hypocritical hating. But that's no problem. I love when these people show their true colors. Just lets everyone else know what kind of messed up people they really are. It's really hard to believe that these neanderthals have never heard of or even seen posted or linked here all of the famous photographers and photography exhibitions that have taken place based upon "street-style" photos of the subways and NYC in general from the 1980s. Just unbelievable. IMO the most famous photographs that have crossed over from the subway-world to the mainstream art world have been "street-style" photos of riders and employees interacting with the subway system. So once again, I'm honored and flattered that so many people on SubChat have enjoyed, commented on, and in many cases defended my set of street-style photos of people in the subway system. I really enjoy taking these kinds of photos to share with you here at SubChat and also on the web in general. And I hope to take and share many many more. Thanks again!!! ---Brian Take Pride,

I understand Brian, that the girl was DANCING AROUND THE POLE, which is what you should have said instead of POLE DANCING (its a connotation thing). 5. I understand Brian, that the girl was DANCING AROUND THE POLE, which is what you should have said instead of POLE DANCING (its a connotation thing). No. For the third time (fourth if you count my original post), she was POLE DANCING. "Dancing around a pole" does not necessarily make use of the pole. So it wouldn't make any sense to call it "dancing around a pole" if she was making use of the pole and pole dancing. I was there. She was pole dancing. FYI: pole dancing doesn't have to be erotic or overtly sexual. That's just how it is often used and the reputation it has had. However it is now also well known as an aerobic exercise that is not sexual in nature. Take Pride,

Pole dancing is a form of performing art, a combination of dancing and gymnastics. It involves dancing sensually with a vertical pole and is often used in strip clubs and gentlemen's clubs. A similar pole (Chinese poles) is used in cabaret/circus and stage performance in a non-erotic environment, in which context the style and moves are very different.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pole_dance So I guess she was Chinese pole dancing then.... |

Does anyone remember this thread? I took a photo of a girl swinging around a subway stanchion and called it "pole dancing" and a few people got their panties in a bunch and called it sexual and inappropriate. I defended my use of the term. You can read the whole thread if you wish. Anyhow, the Associated Press released an article last week that was carried by the Wall Street Journal and many other publications that used the term "pole-dance" in the same context that I had. Both my use and the AP's use of the term were NON-SEXUAL in nature and completely appropriate in the context. When I read it, I thought of this thread and wanted to bring it to your attention. That's all. (BTW, this article may have already been posted here since it is already a week old.) ---------------------------------------------------- New York Police Are Cracking Down On Acrobats' Subway Antics The underground acrobats who flip, somersault and pole-dance among New York City subway riders as trains roll are drawing a new audience—police officers. The New York Police Department is cracking down on the subway showmen who use the subway as moving stages for impromptu—and illegal—pass-the-hat performances. More than 240 people have been arrested on misdemeanors related to acrobatics so far this year, compared with fewer than 40 at this time a year ago. Police Commissioner William Bratton acknowledges he is targeting subway acrobats as part of his embrace of the "broken windows" theory of policing—that low-grade lawlessness can cultivate a greater sense of disorder and embolden more dangerous offenders. "Is it a significant crime? Certainly not," Mr. Bratton said. But the question is, he added, "Does it have the potential both for creating a level of fear as well as a level of risk that you want to deal with?" ... —Associated Press -------------------------------------------------------- Take Pride,

This is interesting, it all looks so different than network TV has me believe.I like that people are using camera's in these photos, real cameras. Every touristy thing I've seen in the last very few years had people using cell phones to take photos, even of their kids. Even old women are doing this. These are tourists doing touristy things, not spur of the moment situations. Now my turn to troll. Why is NYC the last place left to allow people to use plastic bags? How backwards. |

As-Salaam Alaikum ~ --------------------------------------------------- The following are from instructions given to The Believers by Messenger Elijah Muhammad regarding the observance of "RAMADAN," (Rules and Principles) -------------------------------------------------- Dear Followers of Messenger Elijah Muhammad, We are about to enter our annual FAST that is called, "RAMADAN," in Arabic. This is not the actual month taken by the Arab Muslims, however, it comes in this month (December), every few years, but ours remains in this month EVERY year! The reason I have appointed December for our fast is because we were once Christian believers and we use to worship this month as the month Jesus was born. Since The Knowledge of Jesus' birth, ministry, and death has come to us from The All-Knowing One: Who came in The Person of Master Fard Muhammad; to Whom Praises are due forever; we know that Jesus was NOT born in December, and all our worshipping in Christianity was not true since called to the worship of Allah and His True Religion (ISLAM)! I desire that we take this month in order to do away with our desire to worship along with the Christians because of their great display of tempting merchandise to commercialize on in this month instead of a sincere Spiritual desire in Honor of their Prophet Jesus as the claim! To do away with this desire in us, I have asked you to abstain by fasting throughout this month called DECEMBER. This year, (1973), I am asking you to be more strict than you have been in past years. Let everyone of us, sincerely, keep up the five (5) prayers a day as near the designated time for each prayer as possible. There is an excuse for you who are working and are not given time to pray on your jobs; but do pray at night when you are off! But those of you who are able, keep up prayer throughout the day. Let us keep our minds clean and clear throughout the month. • Do not quarrel with anyone if you can prevent it! • Do not eat or dink during the day from dawn of the day until night fall. • Do no eat any land meats (animal) and (fowl). You may eat sea foods, but NO LAND MEATS! And eat as you have been taught–– One Meal A Day, but after night fall and before daybreak! • Take not the life of ANY KIND! And unless you are fought against, DO NOT FIGHT!! But if you are attacked in The Mosque, Allah has given you the right to fight with those who fight against us, regardless to the month, fast, or sacredness of the month. • Married couples shall take no pleasure during daylight hours. They shall abstain from total pleasure during the day in the way of conjugal relations. • Keep your body and mind clean of filth and evil! We shall concentrate on Thanking Allah for bringing us Islam and choosing us as His people and providing us with a teacher of His Religion, and thank Him for The Blessings He has and is still giving us. And we shall not forget to pray for His help against our ever-open-enemies, the devils. And pray Allah's revenge on the devils and their evil plans of persecuting and murdering us, the poor, Lost- found Believers in Allah and Islam! And do not forget this year that the enemy has KILLED some of our Brothers! And Pray ALLAH'S CHASTISEMENT to POUR upon our enemies for this evil and the evils that have planned against us in the future. So remember, you may eat and drink all you desire during the night but do no eat animal or fowl flesh; nothing of the land, other foods you may eat. May The Blessings of Allah Guide and Help us to make our Fast this month, DECEMBER (1973), a sincere one without seeking any vain glory or exaltation or argument. I Thank You and May The Peace of Allah Be With You. Your Brother ~ The Messenger of Allah, Elijah Muhammad As-Salaam Alaikum... |
