In Branford or somewhere east of New Haven!! :-D

I hate the fact that towers are going bye-bye too, be it NYCT or anywhere!! They have been such a fixture of railroading for decades and decades!!! Sad sight indeed!! Thank the Rail Control Center and the "Master Towers" for that!!!

Haha, another wise guy.

It's the reality but I miss 'em just the same. Adapt and overcome.

239th Street Mainline Tower has been closed since approximately 2000, after having been taken over by Unionport Master Tower. Some of these closed towers on the els survive for many years before being torn down, and yet others are never torn down. The Flushing Line still has all of its old tower structures still standing, I believe. The old Ditmars Boulevard Tower on the Astoria Line is also still standing.

Thanks for the info! I knew it was closed, just a shake-up not seeing it. IIRC, there's one near Parkchester on the Pelham line still in place. Well don't take my word for it...

Fred

True. In fact, the Wyckoff Tower wasn't used for decades before it was finally removed!

I believe. The old Ditmars Boulevard Tower on the Astoria Line is also still standing.

Ditto for the tower at DITMAS Ave on the Culver Line.

Yes. But although the old Ditmas Avenue Tower may be closed, its interlocking machine lives on! It was simply moved over to Church Avenue Tower.
