How ironic that I used to ride those D-types on the (then) weekly Nostalgia Special, while the class of cars in the train right next to them, are now today's Nostalgia Special...but a fond look back, all the same.

I remember around 1960, we would always leave the beach at 4:30PM, so we could take the "E" train home. We changed for the "D" train at Jay Street and rode it almost to the end, to Bedford Park! Felt out of place with our beach stuff with all of the commuters!

It's a shame to see that graffiti crap starting in the 70s and how long it took the city to pass legislation to curb the use of spray cans....

Those Triplexes still looked good. I'd had my wisdom teeth surgically removed 12 days before that photo was taken.

The R-6 in the photo is still in regular passenger service while the D type hadn't been in regular service since 1965.
