If the R-44's are scrapped, I hope they take the clear panels in the vestibules and put them in the R-46's. I know, another railfan's dream... |

Are there enough R32's and R42's left to even allow the R44's to be removed from service? You would need 340 60-footers to replace 272 75-foot cars. |

Since they've known about the structural problems with the 44s for decades, isn't it safe to assume that this was considered when they decided the R160 order sizes and the decided which cars would be scrapped when. That leads me to conclude that, unless some new problem has been discovered with the 44s, they will outlive the 32s and 42s. |

It'd be a disaster for an unpowered land vehicle to be swimming around in the ocean; it might damage some of the vessels out there."Luca Brasi swims with the fishes"? Not the same ring to it . . . |

Here's the current G1 outlook, as I see it:-Program to scrap the R-32s and remaining R-42s stops immediately. -R-44 goes bye-bye. -(M)/(V) combo occurs. New (V) will be mostly R-160A, with a few R-32s thrown in. This frees up R-46s to go to the (A). " if that (M)/(V) combo happens will the V use 160's from JAMAICA or ENY ? |

You have finally answeredmy questions about this. You have also confirmed that in addition to millions the TA spends on graffiti and scratchitti maintenance, it is now in the position of retiring an entire car fleet prematurely. It amazes me how much money is wasted because of vandalism. Yet there are those that want us to stop bitchin or get over it. Absolutely amazing. |

ENY, The new (V) would use the R160's from the (M), The (M) would be cut, that's the purpose of this, And the (V) can't use 8 car R42's due to the C/R boards on 6th ave and queens bivd. |
