And Then There Were None (The End of Jamaica's R-42?)

Unconfirmed as yet, but multiple observers indicate a total absence of the lone R-42 train on either the R or V for this morning's rush hour (Friday, December 11).

The train was running on the V yesterday (Thursday), but new R-160's 9653-9662 were also seen on the E, which may have spelled "The End."

Still two trains of R-32's on the V yesterday, and the Coney Island set was on the Q today.

Let's hope that it runs during the evening rush then.

OK all, here's the final scoop:

The last run of Jamaica's R-42 train occured Thursday, December 10 on the R, making at least one round trip from 71-Continental to 95 Street and back. Same train made its last trips on the V the day before (Wednesday, December 9), some of which was captured on digital and is posted to SubChat.

Word is the last 12 cars will be heading to 207 Street later tonight for The Big Swim.

I'll keep an eye out this evening, just in case.

I'm sure the (R) and (V) crews must be breathing a sigh of relief.

Do you think all 12 cars will make their last run as a single consist?

The R32 set was on the Q today?

As in, it laid up after the AM rush?

Yep, as expected, all 12 R-42s from Jamaica Yard left for 207th Street Yard around 8:10 PM or so Friday evening.
