So, my friend down here in South Jersey, found this pass at his old job, by someone who left it at a seat. He gave it to me knowing i'm a railfan and all...now I know that its used on the trains in Europe, possibly on the lines that go through multiple countries...but, where exactly? I doubt its for the high-speed rail lines, not something this small...

I'm 99.9% sure it's not a genuine pass. A real one is the size of an aircraft boarding card and would have some indication of the countries of validity and probably the holder's passport number for the conductor to check against, at least.

If it was a genuine Euro pass it wouldn't say 'engineer' on it either. That term isn't used in Europe, at least as far as people who drive trains are concerned.

Furthermore, it says that the 'Engineer' will punch tickets, which engineers (in the USA) and train drivers (in Europe) don't do, except perhaps on OPTO light rail trains.

I figured that it was either some reproduction of a pass used decades ago or a forgery used to scam Americans.

I totally agree....I think it is a FAKE.....

When I traveled with my mom in the late 70s to Europe.....we both had laminated cards that were the size of boarding cards. Here is the current website for the EURAIL Pass:

http://www.eurail.com/eurail-our-products

It shows a picture of what the reall pass looks like. I don't think it's valid.
