Some pics:          Good turnout:  Rode the R3 back to 30th St w a stop at Suburban Station:    No more stack! The steam plant at 30th St. is coming down:  NJT took us back to Jersey:  |

Here are some upcoming dates to keep in mind:Jan 16th (Saturday)-Poughkeepsie(?) bridge trip. We'll walk the bridge & take some Fred-like photos. We'll be leaving Philly on the 7:20AM Amtrak Regional w a transfer to the Empire Service at NYP. Feb 6th (Saturday)- Philadelphia & Thorndale hike...about a 5 mile walk if we can do the whole Whitford/Thorndale route. Feb 20th (Saturday)-LocoTom is working on a LIRR swing, but the details need to be finalized. |

Apparently there was some kinda Am-site gremlin that said the Eathan Allen was more expensive, which it isn't. I'm gonna be leaving on the 3:05 but The New Jersey Legend is staying till 5:15. |

Nice photos, but I'm even more disappointed to see the Drexel Shaft is coming down than the continued inactivity of the Newtown Branch. There was an excellent article in the Inquirer a few days ago about people who wanted to preserve it and integrate it into whatever is built north of 30th St Station. Oh well, another landmark gone. Signals & bridges.....that was it.Bryn Athyn is now a post office. Below is a recent shot of Southampton station. No movement on restoration yet:  These 2 are the only buildings I know of that are still standing on the closed portion. They are both above the section we hiked. |
