Posted by milan1834 on Sun Nov 15 21:10:12 2009 Hi, gang!While most of you were killing off yet another worthy thread (Nostalgia Train for Holidays Update) with diatribe, backbiting and just plain hostility, on the Left Coast,Salaam, Easy and I were have a gloriously fun day checking out the opening of the Los Angeles Gold Line Extension into East Los today. Here are the pics: In the first shot, Salaam is on the left and Easy on the right:  Second shot is my Dragnet shot (even though the car number wasn't 714):  East Los Angeles Civic Center Station:  Little Tokyo:  Crowds? There were events at four stations (Union, Little Tokyo, Mariachi, and Civic Center). Mariachi festival, karaoke, farmers market, local food booths, etc. Not much in the way of souvenirs if you mean pins or caps or anything like that. Just the standard schedules, riders guides, food coupons, etc. Not even any maps. |

At the back end of the Metrolink/Amtrak platforms they have a small access road for the baggage carts to access the station. It crosses the gold line tracks right where we were.I like the high floor trains as well, but if LACMTA had it to do over again I bet that they'd go low floor. |

They used to stall often when they were testing, but an operator told me that was due to operator error as the trains were harder to control than the other lrv's. We didn't see any of that yesterday. The rides were smooth. The LA Times reported one problem where a train had door problems, but they didn't mention which model train it was. |
