At an 11:00 P. M. news conference in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania Governor Ed Rendell and Penna. Congressman Bob Brady announced a tentative agreement in the SEPTA strike. If SEPTA management/board and the TWU Local # 234 Executive Committee agree to the terms tomorrow afternoon, transit service could resume by Saturday evening.

It would be a five year contract that includes a resolution to the conflict over seniority rights for maintenance workers. There would be slight increases every year in the worker's contribution to the pension fund. Further details will follow.

The timing of the strike ending makes me wonder if the NFL put pressure on the City and SEPTA behind the scenes to get a settlement done. The last thing the NFL needed was to have Cowboys-Eagles being played out on NBC in front of a half-empty Lincoln Financial Field because of fans not being able to get to the stadium due to the strike or because of the strike having to come into work earlier than usual Monday morning, especially if they live in the suburbs.

Great news, now everybody has to sign it.Let's hope cooler heads prevail.

I can't wait to hear the details. We did not nead a court injunction to get them back.

I often wonder what the SEPTA strike would be like if it wasn't for Governor Ed Rendell and Congressman Bob Brady!!! It probably would've been like the 1998 strike, lasting for at LEAST a month!

I agree this is great news. I am just disappointed that this happened at all. I will keep my fingers crossed that they sign it.
