12-9 at 110 St/Lex |
|
Posted by randyo on Mon Sep 14 17:15:27 2009 I apologize if this ends up being a double post but I cant seem to see my original in the index. Channel 5 news just reported a person struck by a #4 train at 110 St/Lex. No info yet as to what direction or whether it was a passenger or an employee. Also no info as to why a #4 express train was involved in an incident at a local station unless it was either a reroute or an employee. I'll try to get more info as it comes in. |

I cant see this being an employee (God Forbid) unless there was some kind of track or signal problem out there. This is comission(Rush) Hour so if there was an employee out there it must have been something major... NOW this being said if this was 110th Street and this could have been some yahoo trying to cross the tracks because they didnt want to pay another fare or somebody who just has no business being there. NO sympathy NONE.... Mines goes out to the T/O.... |

It makes no sense to do this for the few times the LEX gets messed up. It is expense, clogs up MNR & also even if they had regular service there, unless of an event on the lex, there would be no commuting allowed between GCT & those stations much in the same manner as 125. |

There are only a selected amount (mostly hudson line) of trains that you can ride between 125 & GCT and between GCT & 125. Most trains do not allow that type of commute. |

You've got to get onto the tracks, cross four third rails and four tracks and get onto the opposite platform - while a train (or trains) can materialize at any time.I remember that guy who got hit while trying to cross at 135th Street/Saint Nicholas Avenue where there are six tracks. |

It was a group of dumb/ stupid kids playing around on the tracks crossing from 1 track to 4 track...One of them a 14 year old girl paid for her stupidity with her life. A school night and these dumb kids are out there doing this, if im one pof the parents of the other kid they are not seeing the outside (only for school) for YEARS... |

What an idiot:That person must have been in such a rush that (s)he failed to see they were on the wrong platform. In that situation, you ride until you can switch to the other platform. Besides, it would be a pain to try and do the crossover at 110 anyway because of the tracks and having to then climb up the platform, trains or not. |

Why do people do it?I doubt if you'll ever get an answer from any f them. Either they can't answer because they're subway road kill. Or their lawyer advised them not to answer the question. |
