At the N/E of the Mezzazine at Broadway Station on the G line there was a big stairway going up to a passageway that presumingly went to the shell. The only other stairway in the subway I know of which is that big is at the N/E of Grand Central on the 4/5/6 line from the Mezzazine there into Grand Central Terminal. That was back in 1989. I don't know about 2009. |

This station had a full mezzanine divided by the fare control. The southern portion of the mezzanine is grilled off and also closed off at platform level. This station has room for a third (center) track, built either as part of plans for the IND second system or for possible short turn trains. A close observation from the platform revealed evidence that the infrastructure for a third track exists. |

The trackway extends all the way from Classon Ave. to Bedford and Nostrand. It was my home station for 26 years. The criminal element used to try to escape from the police by running down the middle trackway. |

When a southbound G-train passes a Northbound they are not next to each other in the tunnel, they are bisected by the trackway. Also note the width of Lafayette Ave between the two stations. Lafayette Gardens(My childhood projects) buildings 411 and 415 are placed well away from the street. |

If you ever missed a Northbound G train and looked down the tunnel you would notice, there is no convergence of the northbound tracks towards the trackway. The tracks actually start to veer outward to accommodate the island platform. |
