As of 06/29/2009, CSX has sent 4 3GS21B Gen-Set switchers to Oak Point Yard for yard and switching duty. Numbers are 1304/05/06/07. Also, we have a plethora of SD40-2s, some GP38-2s, and a sole SD60M, #8763. Here we have 'em all!! Enjoy!!The SD60M and the SD40-2 squad.....       And now for the Gen-Set squad..... #1304 & #1306.....    #1305 & #1307 sadly were hidden behind some GPs, SDs and a center-beam lumber flat under Leggett Avenue, so I got this shot best I could.....  Hope you all enjoyed!! And for the record..."gimme a good ol' fashioned end-cab SW!!" :-) |

And since the SD60M is largely a nocturnal runner, this is the chance for those who normally don't see it east of Hudson to see it, broad daylight. There are 4 - 5 trains a day that cross 75 feet from my back door. Problem is, they are not on a schedule and I can't get to the crossing in time, once I hear the ead engine bell ringing. I can try shooting pics from my office window but there's trees that partially block the view this time of year.On weekends the Tarantula comes by, usually pulled by a GP-7 but every now and then by a puffer-belly! **The Grapevine Vintage Railroad travels along the historic Cotton Belt Route between Grapevine and the Fort Worth Stockyards. The Railroad is serviced by two vintage locomotives - "Puffy" the 1896 steam locomotive, which is the oldest continuously operating steam engine in the South, and a 1953 GP-7 diesel locomotive. Uptown #6 Train to Longwood Avenue (or downtown depending on where you are coming from), walk east on Longwood Avenue towards the Bruckner Elevated Expressway, and the Oak Point Yard (locations where I do my shots) area is spread out between Longwood Avenue and extending southward towards Leggett Avenue, both roadways cross over the Amtrak NEC and the Oak Point Yard trackage. Garrison Avenue is on the east side, the Bruckner Expressway lower service road on the west side. |
