That must be something, driving on that street and then this big train comes along right next to you lol. I feel cheated, only have driven behind SF Muni LRVs (Boeing and Breda). (And next to LA Metro Blue Line trains, but they were on their own lane, no motor vehicles allowed.)

Actually Muni often has to share lanes w/autos. I imagine for MC natives it is not a surprise as noone is alive who predates the trackage.

Nice stuff, thanks!

What's Michigan City like, anyway? Is it worth spending any time there? From the looks of it, it looks kinda run down, but it does have some nice houses. Of course, I have no idea; never been there, but it does look like an older former industrial city.

For a railfan, it's worth the trip. Amtrak has about a dozen movements down there at the 11th to 10th St. CSS crossing. A 2 mile walk from the CSS 11th St stop east will put you at Caroll Ave. & the shops, with a bridge right over the whole deal:

The city has really got its issues with boarded up homes all over town. I didn't feel like I was in any danger at any time, but I wouldn't wanna be there at night!

I'm sure that they're used to it. The whole State of Indiana is whacked out when it comes to time zones; your time zone depends on what county you're in. In fact, you could go from north to south in western Indiana and change time zones.

For the longest time, South Bend was on year round Eastern Standard Time. In other words, they didn't spring forward or fall back. When we lived there, sometimes we did it, sometimes we didn't. IIRC the time zone boundary is now the St. Joseph/LaPorte County line in northern Indiana.

It wouldn't be so confusing if they didn't change the boundaries and DST observance so often.

Time in Indiana

Until relatively recently, countries in Europe started and ended Summer Time (DST) on different weekends (that is if the country observed it). So for a week or two each year, Paris would be the same time as London or two hours apart during the transition.

Same as the rest of the route. A block extends from (east to west) the Route 35 crossing, where the 11th St segment begins, to the AMTK crossing, then another for the 10th St. street running segment, which is not as photogenic.
