R38's no more.... |
|
Posted by grimace1169 on Thu Mar 19 11:13:48 2009 If 4098/99 were the last two 38's in service then that's it. They were requested by the barn at 207 last night and cut out. Sitting on 47tk. Those of you who got shots on 3/18 got them just in time. Looks like that will be the date for the books if nothing changes. Thanks goes out to a good friend who works at 207 for the info. |

And now for the Slants. 128 R-40's remained as of March 15, all on the A. 10 more are being removed this week and 10 more for each train of R-160's accepted at Jamaica, which boots a train of R-46's to Pitkin. With the way the R160 order is going, it might be by June that the slants are completely gone. Reminder, Jamaica will now receive R160B 9163-9232 and R160A-2 9233-9592 (up to 9372 in service). There's already 2 sets of R46 trains (1 just arrived yesterday). There will be 3 sets of R46s by next week when 9163-9172 is placed in service. |

Coney Island yard may not routinely handle certain trains, but the shop gets everything eventually. It's the super-heavy repair and overhaul shop for the entire subway. Other shops don't do all of the work Coney Island does. |

Not on the exterior, at least. They did have a narrow blue band at the belt rail that went completely around the car. |
