Will the total size of Coney Island's fleet (all models) be increased relative to current numbers, when all is said and done?

I tend to doubt it because once the older 60' cars are gone, those R-68s will be in demand. I know that I have my eye on at least 110 of them

That should be fun - definite step up for the passengers from the older 60' stock. Minor downside on the way that some operators handle the R68A but no doubt with time and effort they can adjust well as most of the operators on the Q did when the cars were concentrated there. And now, for the first time since they were just about new, you can see out the windows again (yeah, there's the film in the way, but better than scratchitti).

So good luck with that!

I have my eye on 68s and not 68As. They can keep those :)

CI has 132 R68's (33x4), not including the 9 for the FS. You may as well "take" them all!

R68s have worked out great for Concourse - D train riders are so very spoiled all these years!

I haven't been "given" any yet. I would need an additional 96 (75'cars) cars to make full service plus spares or roughly 120 cars. If I got all, then some R-44s might be retired. Coney Island would still hang onto the 9 singled for (FS) service.

they all stay till 2015?some say the R160 option 3 order will retire
the R44's.

short term I thought the r-68 were going to have intercoms installed. That should reduce numbers a bit

Nope, not until those 64 (or so) cars in 4-car sets show up (R-160A option 3?)

This has nothing to do with the R42's at ENY.

Until the TA gets in more 4-car sets, those forty-twos are here to stay. The 38's are a different story.

So what cars have been retired so far by the R-160s? So far I take it it's been R-40 slants and R-32s.

I wonder though: couldn't they just give the FS like 4 A-A R46 sets? And just take all the R68 singles and make it one set leaving the 9th car as a spare/reserve?
