The first train consists of an ex pacific series car and an ex amcoach.Car 1 is probably Pacific Command or Pacific Forest or Pacific Patrol. These were previously heritage sleepers, and also have been used as crewdorms. I don't know what their current use is, but one is usually around Washington Union Station (was Pacific Patrol this week) Car 2 is the Corridor Clipper. It is used for inspection purposes, and I think tests involving cat and other geometry tests. |

If you watched CNN, you'd have been able to see the train in great detail. The writing you see says Northeast Regional (I think it was on two cars). The train did a "slow roll" in Claymont, DE and Edgewood, MD. CNN had a great shot of the President-Elect and VP-Elect and families disembarking at Union Station at 6:45 PM Eastern. |

Built for Southern Railway by Pullman Standard in 1930 as the General Polk, purchased by Georgia RR in 1949 and renamed Georgia 300. |

The other car was the Corridor Clipper as you said. I was calling it Beech Grove while in Wilmington, but now I see that was not the case. According to a secret service agent I was talking to the train composed of Pacific Command and the Corridor Clipper was loaded with Amtrak ROW engineering folks who were going to check the bridges ahead of the Obama train.The Obama train itself was composed of P42s #44 and 120 as seen in the photos. Behind those were two Amfleet Is, an Amcafe, another Amfleet I, another two Amcafes (one a lounge?), an Amfleet, and the private varnish car. |
