Yeah kinda like when those of us in the Airline Industry watch a movie that has anything to do with airplanes. The whole room usually starts groaning and picking the inaccuracies out.

That's true, I stand corrected. I know the inaccuracies have been picked out ... but didn't say I would have tried to use any of that to try to pass as "one of YOUS", and it would not have gotten me too far, apparently. =)

Very few people watching the movie are going to care in the slightest. I really doubt that they will get into too much detail. It's an action movie.

IIRC the TA was squeamish about allowing an actor to operate a train. That's why Bill Coke was at the controls of 4572 in The French Connection.

There was absolutely no need to remake this movie and there is no way they will be able to capture Noo Yawk flavor of the original. Every character and every actor in the original was perfect for his and her role, from Walter Matthau as Garber to Doris Roberts as the Mayor's wife. The subway itself has changed since 1974; the original was an accurate depiction of the chaos that was the subway then, not the more orderly and better-run way it is now.

And there will never, ever be a character like Caz Dolowicz.

Its like to remake Barney Miller or Kojak. Its not necessary.

I disagree Mitch. I don't think the movie has to parrot the original. It can go its own way and maybe create a great, different movie, in the process.

I would love to see Hector Elizondo (sp?), the only surviving hijacker appear in the new Pelham in a cameo. Probably as a hostage. Would be great to have the new Mr. Grey be walking in the car, stop in front of him and stare for a few seconds, like he's trying to place him. I would be ROFL, but the majority of the audience probably wouldn't get it. Alas, I just checked Mr. Elizondo's IMDb page, and no reference is made to 2009 Pelham :(

Yea, bring rice, toast, a roll of toilet paper, newpaper or umbrella, and MEWMORIZE YOUR LINES!!!!!!

Remember to yell out the appropriate words after Brad or Janet's name are introduced or mentioned.

When I worked at the Village East 10 years ago, the manager banned audiences from bringing in waterguns, and buttered toast (obvious reasons). Although the watergun ban diluted the enjoyment of the movie, it still was a blast to see the audience mocking throughout the entire movie. Another movie, the dreaded "Showgirls", tried to duplicate the Midnight magic on Friday and Saturday nights at that theater, the movie didn't last beyond the fourth weekend.

For my remake, I'd have the hijackers or at least Blue and Green make the escape, but get captured say like at Penn Station while trying to leave the city. Blue of course would jump in front of an on-coming train and Green to keep the spirit of things will get arrested.

Or, if they choose to stick to the novel, Ryder.

I believe the hijacker's names used in the novel are the same ones they find in the police reports in the 1974 film after the bodies of Blue, Grey and Brown are identified.

I agree. Even if the film is well-made and acted, much of the fun will be ruined because we will know what the major plot points are. And if they plan to change much of this to make the new movie more original, then why not just write an entirely new story and forget remaking Pelham?

I also think that a remake might have been more successful artistically if they dropped the big-name actors like Travolta and Washington and cast a mix of unknown actors and character actors instead.
