I'm amazed that people stay on the el platforms to watch. Seems to be a good view and you only miss the ground show. Sharp pictures.

No one asked you to butt in with comments. Facts about the good view from the platform was OK. But you don't know how I used the words "amazed" and "sharp." Do you have to try and be an authority on everything posted??

I am amazed. Here in Chicago we don't have that. Maybe a platform on the Lake St. side of the Loop might have a tunnel view. No the launch barges aren't far north enough for that. Now Roosevelt on the Orange/Green might get the widest view...but still too many buildings in the way. So its still amazing to me, because I've never experienced that and didn't think it could be possible.

But the point is why do you feel the need to comment on what amazes me. And that's still my point. I've seen you argue about nothing with others on this forum and could never understand the WHY of it. Now its personal and I still don't understand the NEED.

You posted the guy's pictures weren't sharp. I didn't say a thing about his picture quality so I see no need for your comment.

Finish the story...its a good punch line.

I disagree. The fact that the fireworks are located directly behind and not far above the line of the headlights of oncoming trains makes it a poor photo location, IMHO. You would need to make very good use of the manual controls of a camera to get properly exposed shots there.

I still fail to see why you take it upon yourself to define how I should feel. I am amazed, I am still amazed that people watch fireworks from an el platform and get a very good view of it. I don't care how commonplace it is...its amazing to me and will always be amazing to me because I never knew of it.

Now since you're so smart...so you think...pick out which definition from below I used when I said "sharp pictures."

Main Entry:
1sharp
Pronunciation:
\ˈshärp\
Function:
adjective
Etymology:
Middle English, from Old English scearp; akin to Old High German scarf sharp and perhaps to Old English scrapian to scrape — more at scrape
Date:
before 12th century
1: adapted to cutting or piercing: as a: having a thin keen edge or fine point b: briskly or bitingly cold : nipping
2 a: keen in intellect : quick-witted b: keen in perception : acute c: keen in attention : vigilant d: keen in attention to one's own interest sometimes to the point of being unethical
; also : corrupt, unethical
3: keen in spirit or action: as a: full of activity or energy : brisk b: capable of acting or reacting strongly; especially : caustic
4: severe, harsh: as a: inclined to or marked by irritability or anger
b: causing intense mental or physical distress c: cutting in language or import
5: affecting the senses or sense organs intensely: as a (1): having a strong odor or flavor (2): acrid b: having a strong piercing sound c: having the effect of or involving a sudden brilliant display of light

6 a: terminating in a point or edge b: involving an abrupt or marked change especially in direction

You certainly have every right to be amazed after I've told you that you shouldn't be. I won't stop you.

I'd guess either "having the effect of or involving a sudden brilliant display of light" or "clear in outline or detail". I assumed you meant the latter. But if you meant the former, then wouldn't all photos of fireworks be "sharp", thus making your describing them as such redundant?
