This is the statement that you describe as nonsensical, no?I'm amazed that people stay on the el platforms to watch. Seems to be a good view and you only miss the ground show. Sharp pictures. What's nonsensical about it? |

Unlike the Chicago guy, I thoroughly explained my reasoning.Considering that you're the one who boldly asserted that he made a "nonsensical" statement, where is this alleged justification for your charge that David Harrison's remark, "[s]harp pictures" was nonsensical? 'Sharp' has a proper sense. And unless you're clueless, 'pictures' has a clear reference. So how exactly was his statement "nonsensical"? |

'Sharp' has several senses, at least of two of which would have been proper for Mr. Harrison to use. (Indeed, our resident CTA-area-phile explicitly said as much by actually providing you with the relevant excerpt from a dictionary). 'Pictures' is a clear reference to the pictures taken by Mr. Monorail. So how could Mr. Harrison's statement, "Sharp pictures", possibly be "nonsensical", as you have asserted? |

I'm wondering why a statement that has proper sense and reference is called "nonsensical" by you. So far, you have completely failed to back up your accusation that David Harrison wrote nonsense. In fact, the only nonsense that I see is the lack of a clear reply on your behalf to point how exactly the allegedly nonsensical statement is, if it is in fact, nonsensical other than your multiple evasions on this count. You confuse your own low opinion of monorail's pictures with whether or not the statement in question has a proper sense. Just because you hold an opinion on a matter doesn't mean that language itself must conform solely to your preference. You are mistaken to think that the statement you have complained so much about was "nonsensical". |

It is not about the topic of discussion. How could you have not read the story. It was only four lines long...it was doublespaced for clarity...and it was at the top of the post. You mean you only responded to the bottom half of the post. Then how could you know WHEN the story ended so that you would know what to partially respond to. That is...."How would you know" without reading the top half. So "not reading" is not plausible. Despite what you believe, the story DOES have an impact on the question at hand. The other part of the question you have agreed... that I am not to be bound by your definitions of amazed. Thank you suh!! As for the word "sharp" and usage of the same. I've offered a set of definitions for you to choose from. You chose....you were WRONG...I informed you of that. You can supply your own set of definitions and usages if you desire. I'll tell you if your are right or wrong. Or maybe another way.... sharp clothes sharp car sharp song sharp design sharp idea sharp pencil sharp cheese sharp note sharp look sharp scheme sharp wrap sharp iPod wrap (journal SQ would like that one)(Where is he, by the way?} sharp location sharp concept (list continues on and on and on) David Harrison |
