R42's with door problem |
|
|
Posted by North-Easten T/O on Fri Jul 4 21:50:25 2008 I just heard from Railman that an J train had door problems early. The train was removed from service an the C/R and RCI could not fix the door. These R42 are falling apart and should be reefed right away. If ENY maintain these trains this would not have happen, but the R160's are there baby now, and the R42's are the stepchild of there felt. |

Especially since I notice them since I see there Phase I's on the Fox more often. |

The R42's became the ENY step child the day the R143's arrived. They got the barn space, but the 42's got the quick fixes in the yard that didn't last. |

The usual standard of measure would be MDBF. But as we know, MDBF is skewed by line and is not a pure indicator of performance. For example, the performance of R-32 Phase Is transferred to Jamaica from Pitkin has improved by a factor of 10 (June figures). What i'm saying is to accurately compare R-142s to R-68As, you'd need to run them in the same service - which we know you can't do. |

You drop it off for a repair. The repair is done. A few months later, it does not stay latched shut. You drop it off for a repair, and the repair is done. Rinse, repeat. Rinse, repeat. |
