Only way a thing like this could be done is if you have an extension track that can go to the bellmouth's to what could of been the super-express connection if there is room. Other than that with lots of F train service, and I have seen this myself at Lex-63, it would be totally be impossible to add Q's there unless the Q gets extended to 71-Continental. Now with the extra R68 going there and the W getting the added R160, there will be a more vast uniform fleet for the Q.

How would replacing a line that runs through 60th Street with one that runs through 63rd overwhelm a line that goes through 53rd? The only thing that changes is Queens Line north of QP loses direct access to two stations (Lex/60 and 5th/CPS), which can be reached by either transferring at QP, walking 7 blocks north, or walking 3 blocks south.

The V line has been described as being sparsely used, even during rush hours. It needs a good workout.

The 53rd St line provides for a transfer to the Lex.

The 60th St line provides for a transfer to the Lex.

The 63rd St line does NOT provide for a transfer to the Lex.

If QB riders are deprived of the transfer to the Lex by diverting trains to 63rd St, than many more riders will use the already crowded E train to 53rd St.

This is why I don't think that we will see the N train use the 63rd St connector.

No way. The F can handle even more crowding than it does now. If necessary, they can add an extra train or two by eliminating one of the 179th-bound E's.

RI riders were spoiled by 12 years of near empty trains when service was truncated at 21st St. That was never supposed to be how service was to run. The current service is what was envisioned and they need to accept this. You're gonna stand all the way to your destination. All 7 minutes of your trip ...

The 63rd St line does NOT provide for a transfer to the Lex.

Its not a "direct" transfer but its a transfer..

If you got a Metro card you can walk the 3 Blocks and do it..

I tell people this a few times every Thurs and Fri...

They want the 4,5 and 6 trains so i tell em what they have to do if they do it or not thats thier choice.

Have you ever seen an R train between QBP and Lexington Ave? It gets heavy use between these two stations, probably for the more convenient IRT transfer (it was madness back in the day when it was the ONLY transfer option to IND Queens riders).

There's no need to mess up the entire IND to satisfy a NON-need.

Just run one or two more (F) trains during the rush hour.

If any trains run north of 57th Street to the 63rd Street Tunnel, then 57th Street can no longer be used as a terminal, ergo ALL (Q) trains will have to go through 63rd Street.

This rule book is written on screw-ups like some of us say down here.

They will "use a bulletin to "superceed" a rule when somebody does something stupid in breaking it, then using the rule book to say ..

"Look you dont have this part in it covering the screw-up i did!!!!"

You would be surprised at what goes on in "The House Of Pain" when somebody's Job is on the Line for them screwing up.

Actually, it is not money. It is ego. Politicians care much more about having things named after them than money.

718 is right, rules exist for reasons, maybe for reasons we foamers don't or refuse to understand.

In the tradition of the Ancient Greeks I question everything and I never accept "rules are rules" or the "law is the law" as a valid explanation. That applies to all the rules that exist on this planet whether or not they involve railroading. I may follow the rule or law but I always want to know why it exists....

I follow the same example but let me tell you what the "answer" will be beacuse i get this all the time because i question things as well.

"Because somebody screwed up and they dont want you doing the same thing"..

2006 ridership data shows RI at 1,927,373.

I'm sure others have said this already but based on this, 15 TPH peak (F) service is more than adequate.
