Well it could. The (GG) route is ripe for automation. The north end is already cut off from the rest of the system. If the (F) would run express, (and the transfer from Lower Bergen restored) then the local tracks all the way into Church could also be isolated. It could be fully automated and could run on whatever frequency was convenient to the passengers.

Let the blood be on your hands should NYCT rescind the policy of passengers having to be discharged from trains to be relayed the first time one of us gets assaulted while changing ends.

Risk in any context will have to be taken into account. But NYCT personnel are subject to assault and worse while performing many functions, not just relaying.

Moreover, if changing ends is the concern, that can be dealt with by a variety of measures, which you have dismissed without any consideration.

I am not going to get into another discourse about "fumigation". I've made my points a number of times before. I have dismissed nothing to consider in my prior posts made YEARS ago. If the perp pulls the cord to get attention, the t/o has to respond to reset the cord. I've made this point so many times in the past it's ridiculous. It is a stale topic on this board, except for the newbies.

But MTA is not cutting your service. MTA is increasing your service.

Increasing frequency is just as good, if not better than adding cars. And Court Square has a moving sidewalk. If the moving sidewalk breaks down too often, that's a legit issue for complaint.

Note that your transfer to from the A at 42nd St is "long" too. Nobody complains about that. Or how about the E to 6 transfer at 53rd St?

Court Square has a single moving sidewalk. It isn't very useful if you aren't walking in the direction it is going in at a given moment. And they are eliminating through service from Court Square to Queens Boulevard. While it may be coupled with service improvements and such a change may be in the best interest of most riders, you cannot deny that a service is being discontinued.

I can't vouch for employee relations, which have been bad in the past, but you're wrong about the passenger end of things. MTA in particular has been pretty good about responding to customer demand.

As to making suggestions, Railman has some good points. I personally found that persistence patience and politeness have been great tools. I've not only had several suggestions implemented, but have received thoughtful replies and effective assistance when I needed it.

What people often don't understand is that if your particular suggestion isn't implemented, it isn't automaticaly because MTA is blowing you off. If 10 other people are suggesting just the opposite, you're not likely to get it accomplished.

I know a TA employee who sent a suggestion to the Employee Suggestion Program and got a long response for something people thought would be blown off. The TA responded by explaining certain aspects of the signals and switches, which would make his idea impossible. You're correct. They do respond.

But it's hard for some people to see TA as being open-minded, when there are work locations system-wide that always run out of toilet paper, soap, and hand towels for subway employees. Subway employees have to cram their lunch into a little household refrigerator while the guys in some barns and bus depots have big commercial refrigerators for their food.

If an hourly "persistently" or "politely" tells a supervisor that his terminal runs out of hand towels, soap, or toilet paper by the PM tour, there is a chance the supervisor will see that employee as a complainer. Not all supervisors are like this, but most TA employees would rather stay off the radar screen, and not say a word. It's a very blue collar environment. You just don't talk these things out like you would in an office.

I don't know why you're complaining about the R, I think that it's a whole heck of a lot easier than the D.
I work the R all the time and I think that it gets a bad rap.

Unless the road Blows up ZMan im down to the Well and Back no problem i have learned to deal with 59th and Dekalb and Murphy i still get to where i have to go ontime..

To each is own my freind you know that..

Cut a V train in half. That's 2 additional trains right there.
