From the positioning of the signal lenses and the construction of the signal head itself, it would seem that this is an IRT rather than a BMT signal.

From the number plate and the number it might even be an old H&M / PATH signal from the Meadows (possibly old GRAPE interlocking).

I thought that too, but I never checked to see how the placement of the signal lenses was on the old H & M. Ihe red in the middle and yellow on the bottom was definitely characteristic of the old IRT signals. BMT and IND had the yellow above the red.

I agree that it looks like an IRT signal physically, but what threw me was the number plate (definately an interlocking with the "X" but only a single head with no lower indication. Wouldn't be an H&M from the tunnels, they were weird with multiple upper and lower indications. You might be right

OK, so we are agreed that it is NOT an LIRR signal.

BMT heads did not have yellow on the bottom.
BMT did not use name plates "RD36/X" as shown.
BMT used almost ZERO US&S heads, and that's a US&S signal head.

I have the SAME BMT GRS SIGNAL HEAD in my collection..the lenses in this case were REVERSED...per the IRT Configurations. The ID Plate appears to be that of PATH.

STRIKE THAT..the lenses are smaller...you are probably correct. A USS Signal with outdoor visors...it looks like a signal from PATH.(which used the IRT configurations)

Yeah, since PATH was entangled with the PRR, even the newer stuff was US&S. There just wasn't any GRS on the property -The only equipment on record that was GRS on the Macadoo's was the original interlocker at 34th/6th.

So what's it anywhy? Is it IRT, BMT or H&M? I'd like to know so I could have the right info on RRPictureArchives.net.
