Well, I know that one of R-7A #1575's bulkhead does contain a BMT terminal destination roll sign box, and that could be switched with one other R-1/9 in exchange. When in 2004, and during the time when #1575 was the south motor of a consist while in service on the BMT Broadway Line (between 57th Street-7th Avenue and Whitehall Street), it switched sign boxes so that it had a "Whitehall Street" reading on the front.

Here is the proof...

R-7A #1575, Canal Street-BMT Broadway Line, 12/19/2004.

Oh, that's me in front of the storm door window on the left side of the photo. The side signs would be probably be set as "Special" for the northern terminal only at best.

LOL, thanks.

The work at 161st Street seems to be finished, nothing next week. The northbound weekend Concourse express G.O. was supposed to be finished by Dec. 31 @ 5 AM but this is now going to the be the last weekend.

I am going to chase at least R40S/40M for the rare two stations (2nd Ave and 205th Street), tomorrow. If I were you, this weekend may be the last chance before all of Concourse's 40M/40 slants get scrapped, especially if there is not another 2 section D G.O. until late Spring.

The Concourse R40s are being scrapped ALREADY?! I was hoping they'd at least hang on till MLK Day so I could get a last ride on them on the Brighton express. Not sure if a full weekday schedule will be in effect on Christmas Eve.

And what would replace said Concourse R40s on the B? Would Coney R68s currently being used on the N and W be moved over to Concourse? Or Coney R68As currently used on the Q? Or some combination therein?

Now THIS is scary!!

BTW:

1. Christmas Eve is on a Monday, regular weekday schedule applies.

2. You should still have an ample supply on R40M/40S cars still running on the B and W on Dr. Martin L. King. I would not worry until April, when the RF stock quickly dwindles.

'Deluge' might be too strong a word. When this same GO ran a few weekends ago, service on both legs of the D was considerably less frequent than usual.

No it wasnt..

The Delta ran 7 to 8 minute headways on the North Section..

Same with the South Section...

The reason it was kidna jacked was you had a G.O in the Bronx with Flagging (4 flagmen) set up from 161 st to just north of 167th Street, so service was delayed going North.

Then you had the Delta's going local from 145th Street to West 4th Street. Then you add going over the 8th Ave Line and West 4th Tower NOT giving any train a Line-up until they ID'd themselves on the radio..

Probably one inner track at 2nd Avenue for D layups and the other for V layups. This is one time when the 'overbuilt IND' is advantageous.

No Victor Trains were laid up on 2nd Ave..

Both Pockets was used for Road Service..

The cars that will probably be used are: 100-381-401-484-1575-1802. That may not be the exact order but you get the idea.
On Monday, I noticed many R68s on the N (I rode 2862) and R68As on the Q (I rode 5116).
As far as the R40s being scrapped, I've noticed some of them are off the road, but they are still some sets out there on the B and W. In fact, I caught 4150 on the W on Monday. My best advice to you is to get them while you still can. They may not be around in 2008. There are a lot of R160s already assembled and are going to be tested before being placed into service. Last I checked, the highest number I sighted at Yonkers was 8922 and that was when I was headed to the Croton Harmon Open House. They're most likely higher than that now. Perhaps all of them are complete?

The MTA has updated the information on tomorrow's running of the 1932 subway cars.

Sunday's trip

Interestingly, they list 59th & 5th as one of the stops on the train. Hopefully the location of the 10 am start is correct.

Obvious typo when you look at the context. 53, not 59.

Come to think of it, 401 may have a Queens PLaza sign in one of its side upper destination curtains. It's got Three Stooges Division terminals in at least one of its signboxes.

Now we know.:)

IIRC that BMT destination curtain looks as though it came from an R-16.

Thanks Bob. I was going to start a thread asking about the times, then I saw this post. Since one of my favorite restaurants is right near the Second Avenue Station, Katz', it's the perfect excuse to ride the train. As a matter of fact, many a time I actually took an Arnine to Katz' for a couple of hot dogs!!!
