I just read this on Kevin Walsh's "Forgotten-NY". Is it still there? I apologize in advance if somebody already brought this up recently.

It's long gone. Assuming you are referring to the tunnel that carried the #35 Church Ave. trolleys under Ocean Parkway, it was closed and barricaded after the last trolleys ran on 10/31/1956. The intersection was later rebuilt (probably mid-1960s) when it became the south end of the Prospect Expressway, which feeds right into Ocean Parkway at that point. At that time the underpass was either filled in or covered over.

It might still be there. A proposal was made within the last five years or so to reactivate that tunnel for vehicles that continue across Church Avenue instead of turning onto Ocean Parkway or the Prospect Expressway.

Keeping this on-topic, the rails from that tunnel went to Branford. They might even still be in use!

HI

The rails from the tunnel are still at Branford and still in use.
Jeff H.can tell you more.
Tunnel was just filled in with dirt.
It was not a real tunnel just an over pass.
We still have a lot of these in the Bronx on Fordham rd and
Grand Concorse which had Third Ave streetcars going through them.

Can't be "forgotten" if you and others remembered it

I'm not sure what would make it a "real" tunnel. It was excavated and had rock retaining walls. It was as real as a subway tunnel.

Anyway, I watched it being filled with rubble and dirt in (IIRC) 1960, four years after it closed. I'm sure the walls and structure are still there, but digging it out and rehabilitating it for what would be a very narrow two-lane car tunnel might not be worth the cost.

Got lots of videos of it as everybody took movies of it on fan trips.
Certian places on the lines got more footage taken than all the rest put together.

If excavated, it would be too narrow to carry automobile and truck traffic safely. It would have to be widened. The trolleys passed each other with very little clearance.

So if it had to be widened you would be digging, in effect, an all new tunnel. Except maybe you wouldn't have to move any utilities.

It could be used as a single lane one-way. Or it could be used for an LRT conversion of the B35...

What I remember the most about about that tunnel, was the way the Motorman would floor the power pedal and the great speed of the trolley as it dropped down and climbed the steep grade. It seemed that in a split-second you were out in the daylight once again.

What I remember was the very sudden transition from trolley to subway car and back in a matter of seconds. Another strong memory was the very close passage to that building next to the tracks at the very start of Church Avenue.
