Speaking of tresspassing on LIRR ROW's, I usually see at least 2 or 3 people walking on the tracks every time I ride the lower Montauk. Especially in Forest Park (I can't complain, as I did that a couple of times as a kid 20+ years ago). |

Since this occurred west of Babylon Station there are no grade crossings or other public acccess to the tracks. Most of the r.o.w. there is on a raised embankment. So this is another unfortunate trespasser incident which did not have to happen. But no doubt the media will blame the LIRR for causing the accident. |

The Newsday article said the passengers were put on a diesel train. I'm wondering if it used the Central Branch from Babylon to the Main Line. If so, I guess only the Babylon passengers got transportation. |

Depends on where the incident took place. There are several places to short turn trains on the Babylon line, many of which are scheduled to be used during peak hours. |

I see it often in Farmingdale, guys walking on the north side of the tracks just east of the Farmingdale station, I think they are walking between either PC Richards warehouse or an apartment complex and route 24.I'm suprised I never heard about an accident in that location. I guess the LIRR could add a pedestrian bridge, I notice quite a few of them from Wyandanch on east on the Ronk line. |

Perhaps the incident occurred between Amityville and Babylon which is mostly on a elevated concrete viaduct. Bill "Newkirk" |

I wasn't sure if that mean the Babylon area or just the line, which runs thru many other towns. Buttafuoco Park is the logical place to turn trains if that's true. |
