207 is pretty notorious for mixed consists. It is entirely possible that this R42 set will not stay as an R42 set for long. Don't be surprised if you get off that R32 and when it pulls out, there's an R42 on the tail end.

Never trusted them, never will. Dynamics are *adjustable* ... BY CAR. I know folks ain't too fond of the 32's these days, but compared to the 16's, 27's and 30's, they were pretty reasonable. Did CONEY/205 in them when I didn't do arnines. But the dynamics were a PAIN in the butt. Apply, have the train thunk in on you like a bucking bronco (nothing in the world was worse than artens for this) and then rubber band on you as they faded and air finally did what it felt like ... I absolutely LOVED AMUE because it was air from first grab to "pssssh-ssss" and what you pulled was what you got with *NO* surprises.

44's had JUST started coming in for testing when I left - NEVER got to play with 46's though hung out with cab door open with former coworkers and they hated them. Then again, they weren't 44's either. Heh.

When the TA got rid of the spooky stuff and went back to at least SMEE "reason" with the 62's and 68's, the world got a lot better so I've been told. But say what you will with those crammed cabs of todays, ya just GOTTA sit in an arnine, drop the bench and take it in in the museum and see what y'all are missing in comfort. OK, so they weren't A/C'd ... drop a sash and you were OK with the breeze ... and in winter, you GOT heat! And legroom? I preferred to run standing up with my thighs against the dropped bench and could sit if I felt like it.

REASON why I call IND "stretch limo" division was that there was PLENTY of room in those cabs back in my day. I've SEEN what they did to the 32's since my day (harump!) but there was a LOT less crap in them back then. And there was room to move. But nothing beat arnines for comfort so long as cold air dropping on your head isn't a requirement. And you NEVER got cold in those cabs if you closed the sash and the door. :)

Probably longer than that. There were some token 42s on the A in the immediate years from their 1969 delivery; the MTA made sure every B Division line got some. I only saw 42s on the otherwise R-10 dominated A a couple of times, the last being in June 1974. Slants, but not Mod 40s, ran on the A from '77 through about '84.

Jamaica Yard did have a few 42s that occasionally ran as a rush-hour E to Rockaway Park.

The AA. and its successor the K, did run increasingly deteriorated pre-GOH 42s all the way till the December '88 changes. For a brief time thereafter all pre-GOH'd 42s (beige interiors, dark blue inside doors) ran on the B and Q.

According to SBK, he says the CIR32's are put ins on the R for the additional rush hour service. There are what 3 train sets of R32's left for CI now?

So they stay assigned to CI, but used for the R? The R's that go in from CIY have always been the regular Jamaica equipment, just like the F on the other side of the yard.

Kinda wasted there imo. It would be nicer if most were on the F.

Remember: there's a difference between STORING cars in YARDS and INSPECTING them in SHOPS. Cars are assigned to SHOPS, not YARDS. Many of the cars that are stored in Coney Island Yard belong to shops other than Coney Island (Jamaica, Concourse, and East New York come to mind).

Exactly, like there are about 4-8 Deltas that get lay-ed up at Stillwell yard every day, but Concourse inspects the cars, they just get stored at Stillwell yard.
