The (F) would run full express, from Kings Highway to 179 St during the rush hour. The (V) would run from Coney Island to 179. While we are at it, could even extend the (R) to 179 as well. (E) and (F) could even run EXPRESS east of 71 Continental...

Not only that, but a one shot timer is in effect when the switch is set5 for the R enforcing. So you come out of the merge slow to begin with, and don't quite get the momentum. To get to 60, you have to be coming straight from the outside and already going pretty fast when you enter the portal.

The E is empty on weekends??? Not when I take it.

And I take the E train every weekend all the way to Chambers as well. I can see the crowdiness with my own eyes, you cannot fake it.

And if you MUST have the E run local, write an angry letter to the MTA saying so, and if the MTA really does listen to your plan, see how many people are pissed off by it.

I don't do it often, but the last time I rode the E on a Sunday morning it was pleasurably empty Queens-bound. I believe I had a car almost to myself, and I do use deodorant.

There are a few lines that are longer.

Apparently the longer the train is the longer it takes to come.

Incorrect. The length of time it take for a train to arrive is indirectly proportional to the number of trainsets on the route and directly proportional to the amount of delays(and length of delay).

You can get a seat on the E during the weekend. However, you cannot always get a seat during late night.

And I take the E train every weekend all the way to Chambers as well. I can see the crowdiness with my own eyes, you cannot fake it.

The only time the E is crowded in Manhattan on the weekend is when it is the only local. And even then, you can still get a seat 90% of the time. However, the E train does get busy on weekends when there is construction on the Archer Branch.

And if you MUST have the E run local, write an angry letter to the MTA saying so, and if the MTA really does listen to your plan, see how many people are pissed off by it.

Most likely less than the people who would be happy about it. Express service is not always good, just look at the Astoria Line.

I agree, the R is not enough and making either the E or F run local would help as there's no need for 2 express on the weekends when there's need for more local service.

You ought to be a politician. You always love stretching the truth or just flat out lying. Anyhow, even on Saturdays the E is SRO (though I will admit that the F is empty on weekends). If the MTA wants to increase R service, run the V on weekends, or heaven-forbid actually run the G past Court Square then that's fine. But this robbing Peter to pay Paul crap is wrong. The E will remain a weekend express. If the MTA were to even think about making it a local on weekends I would write to all of my elected officials. I'm done playing games.

for about a month in my freshman year of high school I had a 4 connection, nearly 3 hour trip to school . Furthermore, If my train ran local, it really did add about 20 minutes to my commute time. If my boat ran local, that could add another 20 minutes to my commute time. I had no option of leaving home earlier, the 6:05 AM was the first boat of the morning.

People can have commutes which were much worse then your relatively pleasant and easy queens boulevard ride. Many people have had worse commutes then I did back then. Stop complaining. we dont feel sorry for you. (and while it may not have been convenient for me, I recognize that MANY people need those stops which I would have skipped had service ran the quickest way it could for me.)

Pleasant and easy? I have two options (not including the LIRR or express bus). I can either walk to the Q3 bus stop and take a slow bus that makes every stop to 179st. Then I can get on a F train that circumvents several important stops in Queens and Manhattan. From Queens to Midtown on this route is nearly an hour and a half (it's definitely over a hour and a half if I'm heading to my college in Harlem). Option #2 is quicker but entails more crowding. I can walk to the Q85 stop, get on a bus full of rowdy high school students and stand all the way to the last stop. After I disembark and inhale some combination of incense and cigarettes I can enter a filthy station where the escalator is broken 95% of the time. I'll probably have to stand on the E, even at the first stop. By Sutphin it is crush loaded. At Union Turnpike a F train pulls in on the opposite track. All of the people that used to take the F to Lex/53rd cram onto the E. By the time the E enters Roosevelt it resembles the Tokyo subway. Don't you dare call my commute easy. The average commute time is a half hour. On most days my commute is triple that amount.

I have neither lied nor stretched the truth on this site ever. You, however, have done so several times on this board and in this thread.

Anyhow, even on Saturdays the E is SRO (though I will admit that the F is empty on weekends).

The E is rarely SRO on the weekends(except when it runs local). The E is not quite as empty as the F on weekends but it is close. The R, however, does become SRO on the weekend.

If the MTA wants to increase R service, run the V on weekends, or heaven-forbid actually run the G past Court Square then that's fine.

The G should run past Court Square on weekends but running the V is not necessary on the weekends.

But this robbing Peter to pay Paul crap is wrong.

Unless of course it benefits you, as your wanting to screw F line riders for your benefit.

The E will remain a weekend express.

Unless the MTA finds it advantageous to change it.

If the MTA were to even think about making it a local on weekends I would write to all of my elected officials.

Ask the people who fought the B/D/Q switch how that worked out. They wanted to screw riders just as much as you do for their own selfishness.

I'm done playing games.

If you are then you would stop trying to screw Queens Blvd passengers for your own benefit.

That's a contradiction. If on most days your commute is 90 minutes, then it can't be 30 minutes on average. Or, the other way, if it is 30 minutes on average, then most days it can't be 90 minutes, it would be 30 minutes most days.

Those stops are no more important than the stops is does make, except to a small minority that you belong to.

All of the people that used to take the F to Lex/53rd cram onto the E.

And just as many leave that E and get onto the F(just not from the 1st car). Also, many of those people who needed the E or F now take the V, which reduced the crowd on both the E and F which help reduced dwell time on both the E and F.

By the time the E enters Roosevelt it resembles the Tokyo subway.

No NYC subway line resembles the Tokyo Subway.

Don't you dare call my commute easy.

Believe me, your commute is easy. It may be long, but it is no worse than most people's commutes. I might also note that you chose that commute. You don't like your commute, either move closer, change jobs, or stop whining.

It must be torment watching those (E)lizabeths roar through whilst waiting for that R46 (R)arely to show up. Cor, all you can do is tap your toe and hope. By slow, you probably mean about 20 mph?

Try commuting from the Bronx into Manhattan (lets say Westchester Square on the (6), Baychester Avenue on the (5), Gun Hill Road on the (2), or Woodlawn on the (4) into Manhattan) and you tell me that your commute is easy. You guys have 20 minutes maximum from Forest Hills into Manhattan and thats either 63rd St to 53rd Street.

Bronx commuters look at 20-30 minutes to just enter Manhattan at 125th St or 135 St/Lenox Avenue. Add the time to 59th and you see that its nothing compared to a Queens Blvd ride.

Or get a job closer to home... I did after years of working in Manhattan and hating the commute!!!

Now it takes me a whole 3 MINUTES to drive from home to work (4 if I get stopped at the light)... Not to mention the money I save by not having to buy Metrocards and being able to drive home for lunch...

Exactly:

If you're going to do that, you should have the V going to Church Avenue at all times with the F express (OR as I would be looking at doing, having the C/V switch at West 4th with the C going with the F while the G joins them at Bergen Street, with the C/V and G going local to Church Avenue while the F goes express at Bergen (rebuilding the lower level station at Bergen for an F express to stop there).

True. On the very rare occasion I need a 2 during rush hours, I take it all the way and don't bother with the 5 even though it's express. Because it's silly to take a 2 to 180th, transfer to a 5 only to have to get back on a 2 at 3rd Avenue or 149th/Grand Concourse.

The riders do not have to run on the platform for an R train since it is 600' long and platforms are that length or slightly longer. If the R ran short trains, station dwell time would be longer as passengers would have to run along the platform to board. And the end cars would be jammed with riders at the first doors.

Why does it have to be within 30 minutes of Manhattan? Why does it have to have space for a front and backyard? If you want that, then stay where you are, and quit complaining about your commute!

That 60th street tunnel really is that fast.

In that situation, I would probably take the R train anyway, as it's not that much longer to City Hall as opposed to taking the an E train that is likely packed to the gills.

This is also why as one of my ideas I like having the C and V trains switch at West 4th, with the C going to Brooklyn with the F full time (C and possibly G as locals while the F is an express between Bergen St. and Church Avenue) while the V went with the A to Euclid. This would give riders along QB an additional ride to Chambers Street as well as 6th avenue riders an option to get to the financial district without having to change at West 4th.

Yes, you should have a shorter commute if that is the most important thing to you. But if you have higher priorities then you are out of luck and must accept your long commute. It's your choice to make. But it's your CHOICE. No one is forcing it upon you.

I have ridden the E train on weekends when I go to Belmont Park, taking such to Jamaica Center to get the Q110 Bus to Belmont, and it is anything BUT empty, especially in Queens. You really do need the E to be an express when possible, with the R and V being the locals.

I would make the V 24/7 myself, especially if you extend it in some form to Brooklyn (whether it be over the Williamsburg Bridge with the J/M/Z or via Rutgers with the F or switching with the C at West 4th and having the V go to Euclid with the A). That would make it very worthwhile.

I would leave the V (or C) for the Willy B. One service of the SAS should break off around 14 St and run down Alphabet City and join the Rutgers tunnel. The other to the Nassau subway after Houston St and a third to Hanover Sq.

nahh! it was better when we got off the (RR) at Lexington Av, then bought a cheap Yankee cap at Alexander's, hop on the (4) (without ever leaving the subway) and go see Reggie, Thurman and Mickey Rivers.

mickey rivers.a woman stopped me on the street in rosedale,queens last year[I did not know her]told me her father was mickey rivers& gave me an autographed baseball by him,strange things happen to me all the time.

You could knock two birds with one stone and increase G service (along with exending it to Queens Plaza) and have those riders transfer to the V.
