Erie Lackawanna in Newton, NJ, then and now

The last train to Newton, NJ on its way up to Branchville:

This is a snapshot of the Spring Street crossing with the single track. The train is on its way up to Branchville:

Here in 1967, looking toward Branchville. Notice on the other side of the track on Spring Street there is all woods on both sides:

Now here is the same area, with the brick building on the left and the stream on the right side:

Seems like the place was better 42 years ago when the railroad was still running. Seeing that low-income housing up against the RR makes me a bit incensed.

What "low-income" housing are you referring to? The building on the left side of Spring Street? lol...that's the old Moose Saloon. The brick building way up the block on the hill is a Catholic school.
