Posted by streetcarman1 on Wed Jun 27 17:44:45 2007 The last train to Newton, NJ on its way up to Branchville:![]() This is a snapshot of the Spring Street crossing with the single track. The train is on its way up to Branchville: ![]() And here is the SAME location taken in 2007: ![]() Here in 1967, looking toward Branchville. Notice on the other side of the track on Spring Street there is all woods on both sides: ![]() Now here is the same area, with the brick building on the left and the stream on the right side: ![]() Here the tracks are being torn up in 1967: ![]() Now here is the same area without the station and you see a wide open area like a parking lot of some sorts: ![]() ![]() Someone should of preserved the old station instead of knocking it down:

Seems like the place was better 42 years ago when the railroad was still running. Seeing that low-income housing up against the RR makes me a bit incensed. These guys seem to have not yet given up: Next Train to Branchville dot com |

What "low-income" housing are you referring to? The building on the left side of Spring Street? lol...that's the old Moose Saloon. The brick building way up the block on the hill is a Catholic school. |
