And in before link drama.I have given up on that one. Unfortunately in his (near-?) dotage, Ron apparently is incapable of learning new information and it unfortunately appears that he is starting to forget what he has already learned. Remember that Ron had trouble with his three-times table earlier? So I’m not going to point out (again) that long URLs are useless, especially when they have a line break in them. Even more so, when the entire second line can be omitted, as it is just information to the server about where you came from and is only used to choose the adverts that appear on the page.** **As far as you, the user sees. I’m sure that the NY Times gets some useful statistical information from it, but do you care? |

But Apple has raised the bar for phone/computer/music integration. And the other manufacturers will be scrambling to catch up, so we will all benefit. |

My Pocket already does that, and then some: Phone, Camera, Video, full TCPMP video player, full HTML web browsing from both Opera and IE, MP3 player, mapping software, several games, Text messaging, GPS receiver with compass and speedometer (trying to harness this), Wi-Fi, beaming of files pictures and contacts, HTML editor for new web page design, PDF reader, and whatever else I can think of.So why do I need an Apple? |

Maybe 5 hour battery life with ALL FUNCTIONS (Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc) turned off.A device that thin wont have a long lasting battery. I mean there are some high-end phones on the market you can keep on standby for 2 weeks...this apple phone will not. The only thing I like is the flash memory included. Thats about it. But when it gets dropped (And WE ALL DROP OUR PHONES!!!), you can kiss your investment goodbye =) |

I don’t know what you have that does all that, so this comment is general not you-specific.From what I have seen, Apple’s innovations have not been strictly technical, but human. There were music players before the iPod. But Apple got the integration right and they have 70% of the US market for portable music players and have sold more than two billion tunes from iTunes. Other manufacturers are only just starting to realize how they can compete with Apple here. So, I’m betting that the Apple phone will have the human factors sorted out and people will use the phone because they find it easy to use. |

It has only crashed a handful of times, and most of the time I'm able to "force-quit" the offending application and restart it. Perhaps if you actually used a Macintosh to some extent before talking nonsense, then you'd be more reputable. |

I never understood combining all those features. I use my cell phone only to talk to other people and I have no need to do anything else with it.If I may quote American Pig, "it's like putting ice cream on pizza." The features are great but I don't need them combined into one device. |

And Ron knows about this but apparently doesn’t care.I’m surprised by this because Ron is one of our ardent ADA supporters here. The fact that it’s easier on the eyes to read narrower columns of text (which is one of the reasons newspaper columns are the width they are) seems to be lost on him. I guess if you’re not in a wheelchair, the human factors don’t matter. |

The Post Office (before British Telecom) had a radiophone service long before cell phones. But there was one transmitter and you had to be in range of it. The idea of having multiple transmitters that handed off your signal from one to the next didn’t happen until the 1980s. |
