PHOTOS: PRR obs Mountain View leaves Juniata Terminal |
|
Posted by chuchubob on Wed Nov 8 00:18:39 2006 PRR Broadway Limited ovservation car Mountain View was stored indoors at Juniata Terminal for three weeks pending delivery to the Railroaders Museum in Altoona, which occurred on Monday. For various reasons (I live nearby and take a vacation day at the drop of a hat), Bennett Levin frequently informs me of photo ops and invites me to the Juniata Terminal business location where business partner/son Eric Levin gets to be gracious host. Since their SW1500 is in Camden working NJT River LINE's ballast train, E8 5809 was used as the yard switcher to move Mountain View. Mountain View was coupled to a CSX boxcar. The cars had to be moved to a different track to accommodate the large, heavy six-axle engines that were coming from Norfolk Southern. Conrail Shared Assets local freight FJ3 was working in the neighborhood, so Eric decided to let them move the cars. NS SW1500 2106 was the power for FJ3. 2106 was built in 1973 as Reading 2616 and was renumbered to 9416, which was kept by Conrail. NS renumbered it to 2106. 2106 uncoupled from its train and moved next door to Juniata Terminal. 2106 returned to the next door neighbor's location and resumed its work. Eventually the NS engines came over from CSAO's Pavonia Engine House in Camden. Off to Altoona |
