However instead of looping the A into JFK one could bring back the "JFK Express" and loop that onto the AirTrain tracks with a simple extension to the HB express tracks and leave the A alone. Which would make the answer to the subject headline "Bring the JFK Express back...can it be done?", a resounding YES. NO? |

"If I want to take a plane out of Denver or Atlanta, I had better be ready to take the people mover to my gate, or else I'm not flying anywhere. "False statement regarding Atlanta. You are permitted to walk it and if you want to you can, but the many times I've been through the airport very few people do (a few people do and it's great exercise if you have the time). I did not present my world view of circulators and transfers. I presented the accepted arrangements identified as passenger-friendly by transit and airport authorities. I know that you confuse foamer nonsense with reality, and it's not going to change as long as all you do is railfan. |

"Philadelphia's SEPTA R1 goes directly to nearly all airport terminals in Philadelphia Internationl Airport. Though a premimum fare is charged (Zone 5), it is a one seat ride from Center City and runs every 30 minutes from 4:30 AM to 12:30 AM."But you have to get to the R1 first. Which means a transfer unless you start in the CBD. In New York it doesn't work as well because there are at least 4 CBDs in the city. I like the R1, and I am a faithful rider on it when in town, but let's be realistic about it. " but there IS a free monorail system at O'Hare that will take you to all terminals." Yes. So in fact your only problem isd that the PA charges an extra fare. Oh well. If the PA thinks ridership isn't high enough they can change that. "D.C. has direct Metro service to both airports, and that is no problem." False, but only temporarily so. Metro serves one airport; MARC serves BWI and there is no rail service to Dulles yet. And with MARC you have to transfer to a bus if I'm not mistaken, so that doesn't count as a full rail facility (but it's better than nothing). I am hoping that Dulles access will in fact occur in future. |

Oren is by no means ignorant, nor is he immature. I have said this to you many times before, but I advise you not to talk when you have no idea what you are talking about. It makes you look like a real asshat.IMHO, if someone cannot seem to get along with their peers, that makes them an ignorant immature person, which, IMHO again, has nothing to do with their transit opinions. |

Where would the northern terminal of the JFK Express be? 57th/6th isn't available anymore, and 57th/7th doesn't have any room left as the Q now uses that station. How would it be able to peacefully coexist with the A and C lines without disrupting service? |

The Q10 is usually crowded becuse it carries heavy loads from TWO subway stations. That is a route that should be truncated to the Lefferts Boulevard AirTRAIN station to improve route reliability. |

It would terminate at the A terminal on 207th St or the C terminal at 168th. It would coexist fine with the two services. 3-4 TPH wouldn't mess with capacity in the Cranberry St. tunnel. It would run on the express tracks too including the Rockaway branch portion till HB. |

Your plan basically is this:Take a few A trains and re-do the signs to say "JFK Express." Then run them express until then run into the next A train in front of them. And this accomplishes what exactly, besides giving us a good laugh? |

All your plan does is give me an A train to ride which has different route lettering on it. It can't get to the airport any faster than any other A train, and it can't make fewer stops than any other A train, so why bother? |

So does the A train, and the JFK Express would only be as fast as the A in front of them.It worked in the 70's and 80's because the A didn't run express on Fulton Street except peak hours. This allowed the JFK express to use those tracks. Today, the A runs express all day, giving a lot more people good service, as opposed to the few who used the old JFK train. A JFK Express train was basically just a glorifed current day A that used 6th Ave in midtown. That's it. |

One seat ride. The AirTrain line would obviously be converted to IND standards. Yes it would be an A train with a different bullet that continues to JFK. |

Maybe I didn't illustrate my plan well. This new TTTP coninues from HB into the terminals at JFK using today's AirTrain ROW. The equipment AirTrain uses today would be eliminated in favor of IND type equipment that goes from Jamaica to the airport to HB and then basically becomes an A train with another name. Today's AirTrain HB station would be linked to the NYCT express tracks there in order to accomplish this. |

My new TTTP is the old JFK Expresss and AirTrain merged. It's a train that actually takes you to the plane not just to the nearest subway station. It's not philosophically different than what Pataki wants to do. Only he would use LIRR type equipment on the AirTrain ROW and run it over the Atlantic branch into a new tunnel to Lower Manhattan and dead-ending near the PATH station. My plan would use IND standards, is cheaper by using te existing lines and would serve almost every important point in Manhattan from Fulton St to Inwood. The only infrustructure to build would be the link from AirTrain HB station to the IND express tracks. |

Why do you think that 57th/7th can only handle one service when pre-1967 the midday T, N, and Q all terminated there... Ando on weekends both the N and RR terminated there. |
