I need the location of PS 248 - MTA training Center |
|
Posted by Hart Bus on Thu Jan 5 13:18:30 2006 This Saturday, my wife and I are attending the Bat-Mitzvah of a cousin's daughter. The temple service begins at 4 PM and the reception starts at 7PM. Figuring that the service will run about an hour and the catering hall is about 15 minutes away, I will have at least one and one-half to kill. The temple is on 26th Ave and Cropsey. I think I am close to PS 248. Dave Pirman's site has some pictures but no address. An old Brooklyn phone book from 2000-2001 shows no listing under the Board of Ed and miniscule listings for the MTA. Can someone please post the location of the school by cross-streets in case I have some time to kill and the wife lets me do a driveby. I know its somewhere near Coney Island and not far from the temple I'll be at. Thanks in advance for the help. Hart Bus |

From my Hagstrom map it looks like no more than a one mile backtrack from the synagogue. The reception is at the Towne House on 17th Ave / 63rd Street. I guess I can take 86th to Bay Parkway and then left onto 63rd street from PS 248. |

Take Stillwell to Bay Parkway, then continue on Bay Ridge Pkway (75 St) to 16 Ave, turn right, go to 62 St, turn right and go down to 17 Ave.63rd St is a one-way local street - stop signs at almost every corner. The 17 Ave bridge over the Sea Beach cut is out - you can't get from 63 St to 64 St on 17 Ave. |

The reception is at The Towne House at 63rd St. / 17th Avenue, which from its website indicates that it isn't kosher.Sure hope the salmon is good. I generally don't like evening receptions because you don't get to eat the main course until 9:30 PM or later. Too late to eat a heavy meal of prime rib. |

Thanks for the advice, Alex....I am somewhat familiar with Bay Ridge Parkway (a/k/a 75th street) as I have a once-a-year tax client on BRP between 20th & 21st Ave. |
