When he became David Gunn's right hand man, and was like Superman in that whenever subway trouble occurred he was there,One Sunday afternoon while I was working the RR in the mid 80's, an N train went BIE southbound around the curve into 8th St. He was on the roadbed investigating without a safety vest. He stepped right in front of me without looking causing me to take a quick, hard brake. If the timing was just a few seconds different, my train would have killed him. Instead, he waved to me with a big grin on his face. Sorry if you have heard this story before. |
