Metro North Morning Incident

Posted by Fisk Ave Jim on Wed Sep 16 11:45:53 2026

Hearing reports that MN had serious delays going into GCT this morning. Seems that a woman had some sort of hysterical mental outburst creating panic among passengers. One genius panicked and pulled the cord, the worst possible thing to do. Not sure where the cord was pulled but if it was south of 59th St, that would have tied up the whole plant. I wonder if the cord puller was met by MNPD and got his wrist slapped to say the least, if he didn't just vanish into the crowd and went on his way.

There are a bunch of articles online about this - some better than others.

I think a woman pulled the cord and isn't being charged. That's the latest.

Yes, it's crazy that someone wouldn't just alert a conductor.

also, it looks like the person having an "episode" tried to push or kick out a window.

At this point the train was probably barely doing 10 mph anyway.

For what its worth, I think it was a New Haven line train, if that matters.
