I remember seeing real estate ads for an apartment complex right near the Harmon Cove station. I thought wait, what, until I realized the trains only went to Hoboken. But the second gotcha is that then the trains went away altogether. |

What happened to the QX cars after they were removed from the Flushing and Astoria lines? Did they get assigned to work service on the Myrtle Avenue elevated line since steel subway cars could not run there? |

Two QX's, high roof 1637 and 1642, were used as locomotives with shoes and poles on the SBK and other southern Brooklyn places until 1961. Another couple of QX's were used as pump car trailers, those languished at the dead line for years until getting scrapped for parts (that other BU's might live) about a dozen years ago. I've seen some photos of a few "baldie" QX's (cleastory completely removed) painted grey and used as rider cars on elevated lines. I think there is a spreadsheet of the disposition of all Q's and QX's about. |
